Brad Pitt paid a special tribute to Angelina Jolie's late mother on their wedding day.
The
50-year-old star tied the knot to the brunette beauty in France last
month and he made sure he honoured his bride's mum, Marcheline Bertrand,
who died of ovarian cancer in 2007, by engraving a tribute to her in
stone at the position where they stood to tie the knot.
Speaking
to UK's HELLO! magazine, in conjunction with PEOPLE magazine in the US, a
source said: ''Brad and Angelina wanted the ceremony to be both simple
and personal.''
The pair tied the knot at their French estate
Chateau Miraval in Correns because they thought the venue would be best
suited for their children Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh,
eight, and six-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
An insider added:
''They always wanted to have this wedding at the chapel at Miraval.
That is their family home, it is where the children and they are at
their happiest ... There was never a question of this ceremony taking
place anywhere else.''
Angelina - who was with Brad for nine years
before they married - also paid tribute to her mother on her big day by
wearing a special necklace which once belonged to Marcheline.
A source told UK's OK! magazine: ''It was a small locket with a photo of her mother inside it.''
Angelina,
39, was flanked by her and Brad's two eldest children, Maddox and Pax,
as she walked down the aisle to the music of 'Here Comes the Bride',
which the 'World War Z' actor hummed as she made her way towards him.
