Key, Jokwon, CNU & Ken headline Korean musical remake of Chess

SHINee’s Key, 2AM’s Jokwon, B1A4’s CNU and VIXX’s Ken have been revealed to be playing the lead character of Anatoly in the Korean musical remake of Chess.

Set in the Cold War era, the story happens during a politically-charged period between Russia and the US, building up to a high-profile clash of wits between chess champions Anatoly Sergievsky and Freddie Trumper. Anatoly falls in love with Freddie’s ex-lover, Florence Vassy, causing even more tension between the characters.

While the four idols will be playing the role of the Russian player Anatoly, the rest of the cast is made up of musical actors and actresses who will play the remaining characters.

Key and Jokwon have had prior experience with musicals, with the former participating in works such as Bonnie & Clyde, The Three Musketeers and Catch Me if You Can. Jokwon has played varied roles in productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar and Priscilla. This will be the first musical for both CNU and Ken.

Chess will show from June 19 to July 19 at the Sejong Centre Chamber Hall.
