Annie Yi defends husband against accusations of improper parenting
Annie Yi and her Chinese actor husband Qin Hao have been the subject of close scrutiny from netizens since the pair announced that they would be getting married, with their large age gap and Annie’s previous marriage to Harlem Yu being some of the reasons for their backlash.
He is 39 this year, while Annie has just turned 48.
The pair welcomed a daughter, nicknamed Little Rice Grain, last July and have since expressed their wish to have another child together.
The family of three was recently spotted out and about through pictures uploaded on their social media platforms.
One photo in particular caught the attention of netizens – a snap of Qin Hao carrying his daughter. Netizens went up in arms over the photo, which they claimed he was “posing for only to look good” while completely disregarding Little Rice Grain’s safety and comfort.
They commented that he was carrying her in the wrong way and that she looked to be uncomfortable in her position. Annie quickly clarified, “Little Rice Grain doesn’t like traditional baby carriers where the child is carried in front.
Whenever we try to do that, she keeps struggling (until we take her out of it). This is the position that she likes the most, which is being held at the side like a little plane. Regardless of how we start of carrying her, we always end up in this position.”
She emphasised that her daughter is now old enough to struggle when she is in discomfort and would not stay still if she did not like the way she was being carried.
Annie tied the knot with Qin Hao in March 2015 and gave birth to her daughter, Milly Qin, nicknamed Little Rice Grain, in July 2016.
She was married to Harlem Yu for nine years before going separate ways in 2009. They have a son, Harrison Yu, 15, together.
