YES 933 DJ Lin Pei Fen welcomes SG50 baby

After announcing news of her pregnancy in February this year, YES 933 DJ Lin Pei Fen gave birth to her son via C-section yesterday (July 17). The new mum shared a photo of her baby boy on social media and captioned: "How wonderful life is, now you're in the world.”

The boy, named Luke, weighs 3.5kg and was reportedly delivered via caesarean due to his size.

“I was awake during the operation because I was under regional anaesthesia. Although I could not see the baby when the doctor carried him, but I started to cry when I heard the baby crying too. I have finally heard my baby’s voice,” recalled Pei Fen, during a phone interview with Toggle this morning.

“I was sobbing so badly,” she laughed, “I didn’t see if my husband was touched to tears [by my sudden breakdown] but he was by my side throughout the entire operation and gave me a lot of encouragement. My husband also personally cut the umbilical cord [at the birth of our baby].”

According to Pei Fen, her son’s name ‘Luke’ represents ‘light’ in Latin and added that the baby boy’s nickname is “Banana”.

“I have a nickname called ‘nana’, so if he’s the baby of nana, that makes him a ‘banana’,” she laughed.

The bubbly DJ shared that she has gained 20 kg during her pregnancy and hopes to lose the baby weight within the next six to nine months. “I will attempt to lose the extra kilos by controlling my food intake, going for massages and exercising,” she said.

Due to pregnancy taboos, Pei Fen shared that they have yet to renovate the baby’s nursery and intend to do it during her confinement period, when she is at her mother’s place.

Peifen will be back on air in October after her maternity leave ends.
