ELF and Cassiopea question Super Junior and TVXQ's absence in GDA nomination

It looks like this year’s Golden Disk Awards (GDA) nominations have sparked controversy among some of the fandoms, including ELF and Cassiopea, the official fan clubs of Super Junior and TVXQ respectively.

Both fandoms are questioning GDA’s nomination process as both Super Junior and TVXQ are nowhere to be found in the nomination list. Both groups meet the award criteria after releasing a full length album this year with above-average sale numbers. However, their names have not been included as nominees in both the physical album and digital album award categories. A hashtag #JusticeforDBSJ has subsequently gone viral on Twitter.

TVXQ released “Tense” on January 6 as their 7th Korean studio album. It received general acclaim from music critics and topped the Gaon Album charts and Oricon Albums Chart. The album sold 197,503 physical units according to the Gaon Album charts and 159,800 physical units according to the Hanteo Albums chart.

Meanwhile, Super Junior released “Mamacita” on September – also the 7th Korean studio album for the group. The album also marks Super Junior’s comeback after a two-year hiatus. The album dominated not only Korean charts but also iTunes charts in Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore, and other Asian counties. According to the Gaon monthly album charts, as of October 2014, “Mamacita” sold over 384,590 physical units.
