Hong Kong actor Francis Ng’s five-year-old son, Feynman Ng, fell and injured the corner of his left eye while filming Chinese variety show Dad, Where Are You Going 2 in New Zealand this September.
Since then, his recovery has been slower than expected and the little one was still suffering from blurred vision in October. Francis even hinted that there was a possibility that they would pull out of the movie version of the show.
On Wednesday (Dec 10), Francis announced their withdrawal from the production as Feynman’s health is of utmost importance and both he and his wife feel that he should not be part of such a massive project.
The doting father announced the news through a Weibo post: “Everyone has been curious about whether both my son and I will take part in the movie. Actually, Feynman’s rate of recovery is not that ideal. Based on the doctor’s opinions and the conclusion from our family meetings, we have decided not to participate in filming works. We’re sorry for this and thankful to Hunan TV for giving my son and I such a wonderful time. May the movie become a hit.”
While many fans of the father and son pairing were disappointed and “will not be watching the movie anymore”, majority supported Francis’s decision and wished Feynman a speedy recovery. They also requested that the actor upload more photos of Feynman so that they “would not miss him too much”.
