′Show Me the Money 5′ to Recruit Rappers in Korea and the U.S. This Year

Korea′s first-ever rap survival show Show Me the Money 5 is taking the hip-hop competition global.

Mnet stated on January 27, "We will be recruiting rappers for Show Me the Money 5 from February 1 to March 6. We will be scaling up this year, so anyone who′s a rapper can apply for the first round of Show Me the Money 5, which will be held not only in Korea but the U.S. as well this year."Show Me the Money, which is in its fifth season this year, caused quite a stir last year, featuring rapper Basick, who won the top prize in season four, as well as Song Min Ho, Black Nut, Innovator, Lil Boi and more, bringing hip-hop to the forefront of mainstream music.

Show Me the Money 5, which will feature the strongest production team and be the biggest season yet, is set to premiere in May. Fans are already curious to see who will sign on to be a producer and participant. Feeding off of Show Me the Money′s popularity among foreign fans, for the first time ever this year, the first round will be held in Korea and the U.S.

Mnet stated, "With the new season coming up, we were flooded with requests from rappers abroad saying they wanted to participate in Show Me the Money. By expanding the opportunity to rappers abroad, we want to introduce a more diverse group of talented rappers this season. You can look forward to increased competition among the rappers."

Open recruitment for Show Me the Money 5 will be taking place from February 1 to March 6. From amateur rappers hoping to debut one day to rappers who are already big in the underground scene, men and women of all ages who love rap are welcome to apply.
