Following news of Chinese actress Eva Huang’s fainting incident which caused her to miss the Oscars red carpet, netizens have accused the Kung Fu Hustle star of making up stories for publicity.
It was previously reported that Eva was the only Asian female celebrity who was invited to the Oscars this year, and that she was supposed to walk the red carpet with her Bombing of Chongqing co-star Tom Hanks.
However, netizens noticed that Tom and Eva’s names were not in the list of attendees onThe Academy Awards’ official website. “[She must be] bragging and sensationalising news,” a netizen commented.
Subsequently, Eva’s manager posted a lengthy statement in response to the allegations. He wrote: “The first photo shows the invite along with its terms and conditions. Secondly, it is normal that Eva is not in the attendees list as it contains only the names of award presenters. Lastly, the news about Eva and Tom Hanks gracing the red carpet together was not released by us.”
Sharp-eyed netizens then pointed out that the invite, which is dated 30 January 2014, is forThe Independent Spirit Awards ceremony, raising further suspicion about the incident.
