George Clooney spends £1.5million on renovations

George Clooney has spent over £1.5million on renovating his home.

The 'Monuments Men' star has reportedly splashed out the huge sum on he and new wife Amal Alamuddin's property in Oxfordshire, which cost £5million to purchase.

A source shared: ''George and Amal have told friends they want this to be their long-term home so it's not surprising to see them pump money into it to make it even more comfortable.''

The 53-year-old actor bought the Grade II-listed Aberlash Manor, which has its own island in the River Thames, as a wedding gift to the human rights lawyer.

However, he is now said to have forked out even more cash on improvements including a new roof and extensive work to the four-acre grounds.

But the heartthrob is said to be willing to spend whatever it takes to make the property perfect for him and his wife.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: ''When you have got their money you can make these sorts of improvements without much thought.''

Other additions to the stunning property include extra lighting in the gardens, a fence around the perimeter to deter prying eyes, a panic room and a biometric security system that allows only George and Amal to open the front door.

They've reportedly also had a planetarium built into the roof of the historic building so they can gaze at the stars with one another without leaving the house.
