Taiwanese-American host Janet Hsieh and Singapore-based actor-host George Young wowed everyone when they tied the knot at one of the most unique wedding locations on Earth – Antarctica.
Just slightly more than a year since they went public with their relationship, Janet fulfilled her 4-year-long wish to be married at the land of snow, doing so under the witness of a pastor, their families and close celebrity friends like Taiwanese actress Janine Chang and Sodagreen’s lead singer Wu Tsing-Fung.
Their wedding ceremony was originally planned to take place in the church on the main land, but due to the erratic weather, they were forced to change their plans at the last minute and married in the open instead.
Despite the sub-zero weather, Janet wore an off-shoulder white wedding dress and George dressed smartly in a suit. The couple gazed into each other’s eyes and posed for a sweet photo amongst flocks of penguins.
They also held up a paper made of the American, British and Taiwanese flags (which represents their nationality), proudly proclaiming they are off the market with the words ‘just married’ printed on it.
As their lavish wedding would be weaved into a travel show, a broadcasting company sponsored the couple to go on an all-expenses-paid ‘pre-wedding tour’ since last December.

In her 7-week tour, the couple visited Janet’s birthplace Texas and other memorable cities like Argentina before they met with their friends and family in Ushuaia to travel to Antarctica for their 11-day wedding trip.
Though their elaborate wedding tour is expected to cost up to NT$33 million (approximately S$1.4 million), the couple only needed to foot a NT$3 million bill (approximately S$120,000) as numerous sponsors and their management companies had volunteered to pick up the tab.

Prior to their wedding, the public also speculated their quick decision to marry was due to Janet being pregnant. However, her manager denied the rumours and stated that the newlyweds are focusing on their career currently and would let nature take its course.
While George wishes to have four to five children, Janet would only consider if she would want more after her first child.
Her manager also revealed that the couple would maintain their long-distance relationship after their marriage – with Janet based in Taiwan and George in Singapore – as they can easily fly over to meet up with each other anytime.
