Soulmates Return gears up with star-studded cast

12 years after the end of Kang Ho Dong’s Soulmates, the celebrity matchmaking programme Soulmates Return will once again grace millions of small screens across South Korea. The original boasted cast members such as musicians Rain and PSY alongside actresses Yoon Eun Hye and Han Chae Young.

The re-conceptualised version will be helmed by hosts Lee Hwi Jae and Leeteuk, and is said to have included more realistic elements to the programme. The production team has even declared its intention to spawn a reel-to-real life romance between its participants.

Lee Hwi Jae stars on Superman is Back together with his twin sons Seo Eon and Seo Jun and Leeteuk is a well-established name in the variety circuit as well as the leader of one of Hallyu’s most popular boy bands, Super Junior.

According to reports, the eleven-member cast was handpicked from a large volume of celebrity applications which included both rookies and established industry names. Out of which, the nine that have been revealed are Super Junior-M’s Henry, SHINee’s Taemin, Cross Gene’s Takuya, Secret’s Hyosung, Brown Eyed Girls’ Narsha, EXID’s Junghwa, Lee Hyun Woo, Moon Hee Jun and Fujii Mina.

The last two cast members are said to be hugely popular stars whose identities will be revealed soon, raising expectations for the already-star-studded lineup.

Soulmates Return is slated to air its pilot episode on February 24.
