After shocking the entertainment industry by announcing their plans to go on hiatus at the 27th Golden Melody Awards
in June, the band’s lead singer, Wu Tsing-fong, took to his Facebook to
officially announce the first day of their three-year hiatus.
The 34-year-old wrote on Facebook, “January 2, 2017, Sodagreen will officially go on hiatus”.
Ever
since their bombshell announcement, Sodagreen has declined almost 23
event appearances and four endorsement deals. Fans have originally
thought that the band would go on hiatus after their Taiwan ‘In Summer’
tour in September, only for Sodagreen to announce a potential Germany tour later.
Later,
the band revealed that they have not discussed the date of their hiatus
at first, but decided to set a date in order to assure their fans.
However, they also maintained that the date was not set in stone, and
that they might go on hiatus earlier if plans for their New Year’s Day
performance fall through.
“The three year hiatus is only a
reference. Truthfully, we don’t even know [how long the hiatus will be].
We’ll rest first and take things as they go after that,” Tsing-fong
shared.
It was also reported that the band decided to go on hiatus
to ensure that the members could have enough rest, and that they will
still continue embarking on their individual projects and schedules.
