Chinese actor Hu Ge has recently been speculated to be considering
quitting showbiz after rumours of the actor rejecting an opportunity to
star in a movie directed by a renowned director surfaced.
The
actor was spotted having a meal with Hong Kong film producer Charles
Heung and critically-acclaimed director Johnnie To and was said to have
turned down the directors’ invitation to work with them in an upcoming
film.
The actor shot to stardom after starring in Chinese historical drama Nirvana in Fire in 2015, following which he had a packed year, with movie and drama opportunities lined up for him.
The
34-year-old had said previously in a press conference that he would be
taking a break for a period of time, and had also wrote in a post on his
Weibo that if he had the chance to upgrade himself, “I’m willing to let
go of everything that I have”.
Although fans have no idea what
the actor has planned for the upcoming year in terms of his career, his
close friend let in that he will be heading to England to study English
this (March) and sign up for a course to learn cinematography.
