Taiwanese singer Kenji Wu had been making headlines after news of his sudden deafness condition surfaced. The constant probing by the media about his personal life at promotional events for his latest album, Humourous Life,
have left him feeling overwhelmed. He also expressed frustration at the
frivolous follow-up stories, which he felt distracted people from his
music.
He
went as far as to toss the microphone on the floor and leaving the stage
abruptly after delivering an emotional speech at the press conference
for Humourous Life last month. He said in his speech, “I don’t
get to talk about my music at all at promotional events, you guys just
want to know if I’m planning to get married soon”.
“Even if this
is my last album, I did it with a clear conscience, I wrote everything I
want to say in my songs, so I won’t be accepting any interviews after
this,” he said.
Fans started to worry about Kenji’s mental health
after they witness him getting all choked up with emotions during the
speech, but the singer took the stage again two days ago (Jan 3) at
another promotional event and explained his behaviour.
“After
speaking my mind the other day, I feel much better, I’ve made up my mind
and I don’t wish to entertain any frivolous questions anymore, I want
the attention to be on the music I make,” He said.
Kenji also
assured his fans through the press, “I’m doing well, I’m not sad. Maybe I
just seem boring now because I’m speaking my mind now, but I no longer
want to talk about anything that’s unimportant to me because time is
short, and I’m already 37.”
