Fans of Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun may finally get to see him gracing their small screens again after he rejected the lead role in Doctor Frankenstein.
Korean news outlet Ilgan Sports reported that scriptwriter Park Ji Eun, of his previous hit drama You Who Came from the Stars, contacted the actor directly to star in her upcoming project, Producers (working title). The drama is said to be set in the entertainment industry but its plot and further details have yet to be confirmed.
A representative from his label, KeyEast Entertainment, confirmed that the casting offer was made but stressed that a decision has yet to be made. Kim Soo Hyun is said to be considering the role in a positive light. The crew added that the drama’s production is in its early stages and that while Kim Soo Hyun has been approached for the role, no decisions have been made.
Kim Soo Hyun has skyrocketed in popularity after a series of hit dramas, with the most recent two being You Who Came from the Stars and The Moon that Embraces the Sun. He has also starred in highly successful movies, in particular The Thieves and Secretly, Greatly.
Scriptwriter Park has also had a string of successful dramas, which includes the 2013 family drama Unexpected You and 2009 rom-com Queen of Housewives. Unexpected You was a ratings giant, hitting average ratings of 33.1% and a peak of 52.3% and receiving numerous accolades for its script.
