After making headlines and sending shockwaves through showbiz with his surprise non-nomination in the Top 20 Most Popular Male Artistes list on Monday, it seems Zhang Zhen Huan’s fans are bent on seeing their idol return home triumphant in the online polls this April.
The Sichuan-born actor’s character Gao Guo Tian (in World At Your Feet) surprisingly leapfrogged to pole position in this week’s results update, overtaking Elvin Ng’s number one position (for Wu Wei Xiong in World At Your Feet) in the Favourite Male Character award category. Bearing in mind that he came in first – from the bottom – in last week’s voting update; one can assume that this result is an outcome brought about by fervent voting from his fanclub, following his Top 20 snub.
Other than Zhen Huan’s surprise comeback, there is slight progress in the Favourite Male Character rankings this week as Aloysius Pang overtakes fellow Duke Xu Bin, who is nominated for his role as Cartoon in Against The Tide, to claim the third position with his character Fang Yang Ming in World At Your Feet.
Similarly we see little change to the rankings for Favourite Onscreen Couple except for a swop in the fourth and fifth position for the pairings of Qi Yuwu and Joanne Peh (as Tang Yew Jia and Leow Xin Yi in C.L.I.F. 3) and Li Nan Xing and Rui En (as Wee Lum Thiam and Ng Tze Keat in C.L.I.F. 3).
There are no changes to the lineup for the Favourite Female Character nominees this week, with Jeanette Aw retaining her top spot for her character as Hong Ming Hui in The Journey: Tumultuous Times. She is followed by Rui En (as Qiu Xue Qing in Against the Tide), Rebecca Lim (as Zhang Xue Qin in Yes We Can), Kimberly Chia (as Ye Xiao Feng in World At Your Feet) and Felicia Chin (as Pan Xiao Min in In The Name of Love).
