S.M. Entertainment’s rookie girl group Red Velvet announced its impending comeback alongside with the addition of a new member, Yeri.
Yeri, who is born in 1999, will join existing members Irene, Seulgi, Wendy and Joy to promote their first full-length studio album, Ice Cream Cake.
The 15-year-old was part of the label’s trainee group, S.M. ROOKIES, from which all the other members apart from Joy were in prior to their debut.
Yeri left a message on the S.M. ROOKIES site after the announcement, saying: “Hello everyone, this is Yeri. Did the greeting as (both) a Red Velvet and S.M. ROOKIES member surprise everyone? I’ve been practising hard every day with the unnies (older sisters). I look forward to showing good sides to me, so please show a lot of interest and love to me, Yeri. I love you!”
Red Velvet debuted with ‘Happiness’ in August 2014 and followed up with ‘Be Natural’, a remake of S.E.S’s hit song, in October.
Ice Cream Cake is slated to be released on March 18.
