The crews behind regular Korean programmes are scaling down their shows in light of the MERS scare in South Korea, which has infected over 100 and taken the lives of over ten of those infected.
Of which, SBS’s weekly music show Inkigayo has announced that this week’s show will be recorded in a closed door environment despite its usual practice for fans to be present for both pre-recording and live show sessions.
Emphasising that the decision was made after considering the current situation and everyone’s safety, they stressed that no audience members will be allowed into the venue this week.
Other shows, such as KBS’s Gag Concert and JTBC’s Off To School have also rescheduled recordings due to the outbreak.
Last week, MBC’s Show! Music Core also issued a firm statement saying that all attending the show would have to don face masks before being allowed onto the premises. Audience members, staff and artistes alike adhered strictly to the rules, with many stars uploading selfies of themselves in their masks while calling for their fans to do the same.
This comes soon after artistes such as EXO and BTS cancelled or rescheduled public events in light of the MERS scare.
