Who Are You – School 2015 wraps up to mixed reviews

One of the most highly anticipated school-oriented dramas of the year, KBS's Who Are You – School 2015 wrapped up with the series’ highest ratings but also left some viewers dissatisfied with what they deemed as an unsatisfactory ending.

Based on TNmS ratings, the series finale on June 16 hit a nationwide rating of 9.7 per cent whereas AGB Nielsen reported an 8.2 per cent nationwide rating. Both agencies’ nationwide ratings for the episode were the highest recorded for the series’ 16 episode run.

However, some viewers took to the Internet to grouse about the ending of the show, which they felt was poorly written and unrealistic. One of the main sources of their frustrations was that the leading male character, Han Yi An (Nam Joo Hyuk) did not have sufficient character development for the audiences to connect with him and understand his actions.

Some also shared that the model-actor had insufficient experience for leading male material, causing the lead to pale in comparison to other characters. Some netizens also groused that this most poorly written worst School series to date after watching the finale.

On the other hand, BTOB’s Yook Sungjae has received much praise for his role as the second fiddle, Gong Taekwang, with many rooting for him to have a happy ending with the female lead, Lee Eun Bi (Kim So Hyun).

While this is the end of the Who Are You – School 2015 series, fans will be able to catch the show’s breakout star, Sungjae, both on reality show We Got Married and through BTOB’s impending comeback.
