Cecilia Cheung Takes Sons to Thailand for Summer Break

Parenting is hard enough. Parenting as a single mother is even harder, but Cecilia Cheung (張栢芝) isn’t letting that hold her down.

The 36-year-old mother of two was recently seen taking her two sons, Lucas (謝振軒) and Quintus (謝振南), to Bangkok, Thailand, for their summer break. It was an exclusive family trip, as Cecilia did not bring her assistants with her.

After promoting her latest film, Out of Control < 失控.幽靈飛車>, in Shanghai last month, Cecilia went straight back to Hong Kong to take her two sons to Thailand. The family of three were spotted at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, without any assistants by their side. Despite Cecilia’s wealth and status, she did not bring any assistants with her to the trip. Her two sons were seen wearing affordable Uniqlo clothing, and Cecilia herself “blended in” as much as possible with her modest attire.

Cecilia, who has been on semi-hiatus ever since the birth of her eldest son Lucas in 2007, has just completed the filming of Out of Control, a Chinese-German action thriller. T.O.P, member of the South Korean boy band Big Bang, also stars in the movie.

At a press conference for the movie in Shanghai, Cecilia has shared her intentions to continue her acting career, expressing, “In the past, I had to take time off for my two sons. Now that they’re getting older, I can afford to leave home a few months to do more movies.” She then added with a laugh, “I showed my sons some of the intense scenes from the movie, and Lucas immediately asked me if I bought insurance. Quintus, on the other hand, was worried about my safety.”

Cecilia said she cherishes her family and would always make time for her two sons when she’s not at work. “I’m always away for work, and they’re always in school. We could only see each other through video chat. Now that they’re on [summer break], I want to spend as much time as I can with them.”
