The paparazzi are catching up with Dayo Wong (黃子華) and Fala Chen (陳法拉), both who have been diligently rehearsing for their new theatrical play, Skylight
<前度>. The play, produced by Dayo, will be Fala’s theater debut.
Fala has previously worked with Dayo in the yet-to-be-released comedy
film The Treasure <神秘寶藏>, in which Fala played Dayo’s wife.
Fala, who has just completed her second
year at The Juilliard School in New York City, returned to Hong Kong for
the summer break to prepare for Skylight, which is slated to open at
the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts on July 1st. It is an
adaptation of an English play by David Hare, which made its debuted in
the West End at the Cottesloe Theatre in 1995 and Broadway in 1996.
Dayo’s popularity has guaranteed the play
to be a sell-out. Originally to be 18 shows, the production team added 6
more shows after successfully selling out all shows during pre-orders.
It has been said that resellers are selling them as high as $10,000 HKD
per ticket.
Earlier, the paparazzi spotted Dayo and
Fala at a theater in Tai Kok Tsui, rehearsing for the play. Fala looked
noticeably stressed as he went over the script with Dayo, who directed
and observed Fala’s performance in a strict manner. At one point, Dayo
told Fala to run up to the roof and back.
Skylight, an English play
originally written by David Hare, is about two former lovers crossing
paths again to discuss about their differences in life. Aside from Dayo
and Fala, the Hong Kong adaptation also stars Terrance Lau (劉俊謙).
