Rainie Yang will be making her long-awaited drama comeback after five
years. Taking on the role of ordinary girl Zheng Ruwei in upcoming
project Roseleaf Bramble, she is reported to have told her company that “I must definitely film this drama no matter what”.
The drama is part of a series of eight different shows and Roseleaf Bramble was written by award-winning screenwriter Mag Hsu, who previously won a Golden Bell Award for Best Screenplay for 2011’s In Time With You.
Rainie shared that her role in Roseleaf Bramble is one of
the most challenging in her career, as she has to convey the thoughts of
her “ordinary girl” character’s life, career and love to the audience
convincingly. Her toughest line, she shared, was “I really want to know
all of the answers before I make a choice.” The 32-year-old will also
have a kiss scene with up and coming actor Yan Yu Lin, who is five years
her junior.
She is said to have rejected an offer of NT$120
million (S$5.2 million) for the role, insisting that supporting a good
project is more important to her. Roseleaf Bramble is slated to air in October and will have a total of six episodes.
