Fan girls of ‘big boss’ or Captain Yoo,
as he is better known, went into a mini frenzy yesterday night, after
Singaporean actress Rebecca Lim shared a picture she took with Korean
actor Song Joong Ki at the Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA 2016)
on her Instagram account.
The actress, who will be flying back
to Singapore today, was selected to be the Singapore representative,
alongside reps from Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan, and picked up an Asian
Female Star Prize award after the jury viewed clips of her acting in The Journey: Our Homeland. Another show that was submitted for judging was The Dream Makers 2, said Rebecca, during a phone interview with Toggle.
“It
is a very good birthday present and a very huge honour,” she enthused,
“According to the organisers, this is the first time they are inviting
someone from Singapore to the awards ceremony. To be invited was already
an honour and to be presented an award is such a privilege.”
Her
fellow winners include singer-actor Jasper Liu from Taiwan, actress
Fuji Mina from Japan, Dennis Trillo from the Philippines, Nha Phuong
Tran from Vietnam and esteemed director-actor Anthony Wong frhom Hong
Kong, who was seated beside her the entire night.
While Becks calls the award the “icing on the cake”, sitting directly behind Song Joong Ki and Shin Min Ah and then snagging a photo with the actor on stage, we believe, is definitely the cherry atop the icing.
“When
I told my sister about it, she told me to take a selfie with him, but I
felt it was inappropriate for me to do so during the awards ceremony,”
she laughed, “But when we went on stage for a group picture, we were
just next to each other so I asked for a picture.”
So how did she ask him for this prized memento? “’Annyeonghaseyo (which means hello in Korean), picture?’ And he said yes!” Becks guffawed.
