Leo Ku’s wife is reportedly pregnant

After dating for 20 years, Hong Kong singer Leo Ku tied the knot with his assistant-cum-girlfriend Lorraine Chan in Las Vegas this July. Lately, there have been reports that Lorraine is expecting.

The 46-year-old, who has always maintained a slim figure, was spotted several days ago shopping for groceries in a supermarket in Hong Kong with a double chin.

Dressed in loose-fitting clothes, Lorraine held on to the handrails while going down the escalator cautiously, behaving like most pregnant mothers-to-be. After realising that she was photographed, she left the mall hurriedly.

Responding to pregnancy rumours, Leo’s manager Mani Fok expressed that the company looks forward to welcoming their baby but is “not sure” if the speculations are true. “But both of them love kids and since they are married, they would definitely go ahead [with baby-making]. I keep rushing them [to have one soon],” said Mani.

10 questions on Disney’s Big Hero 6 with Daniel Henney

Photos and videos: Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Singapore
If you haven’t heard of Disney’s Big Hero 6, you must have been hiding under a Baymax or really big rock. After opening on our little red dot on November 13, it has gone on to do even better than last year’s hit film Frozen, with its local box office standing at an impressive S$3.25 million as of Wednesday (Nov 26).
Disney’s latest animated feature revolves around a teenage robotics prodigy, Hiro, who forms a superhero team to stand up against a masked villain.
The inflatable robot Baymax was originally programmed to be a personal healthcare companion but ends up having to suit up and join forces with the rest of the crew to ensure that good triumphs over evil.
The crew of voice actors includes Ryan Potter as Hiro, Scott Adsit as Baymax and Daniel Henney as Tadashi, Hiro’s older brother and Baymax’s creator.

While we unfortunately can’t gift you of a Baymax of your own (we’d actually like one too), we have an exclusive hamper of Big Hero 6 merchandise (worth S$360) to give away. It includes a Big Hero 6 poster autographed by Daniel Henney, a 10-inch figurine of Baymax, a kid’s T-shirt, a Baymax flying kite, Baymax plastic pouch, lenticular notebook, Go Go’s flying disk, canvas backpack and Big Hero 6 art book.
Simply answer the following question and the best answer will be picked to win.
Question: In 50 words or less, tell us which character from Big Hero 6 you like best and why.
Contest ends December 5 and the winner will be notified via email. *Terms and conditions apply
Read on to find out about Daniel Henney’s thoughts on the movie, which other character he would have loved to voice (hint: it’s big, white and everyone loves him) and more.

What did you like about “Big Hero 6” when you first read the script?

Daniel: Honestly I didn't get a script.  I'm not sure how it normally works with voice-over work, but I was given a basic plot synopsis and then I went to meet with the directors and producers.  From that point on, they basically verbally described the film's premise and the character to me.  I was on board immediately.  After a pretty intense audition session, the deal was done and I started soon after that.  I mean, being a Disney fan my whole life and coming from a small town, far away from California...this was nothing short of a dream come true for me.  A definite no brainer, a progressive, fun, heartfelt and incredibly well made film with enough positive messages within to steer people of all ages the right direction.

Can you please tell us a bit about the audition process and how you felt when you got the role?

The audition process was intense but also incredibly rewarding and fun.  I've been working on TV and in film for a long time now and sometimes you can fall into certain technical rhythms as an actor.  Going through this audition process reminded me of the fun I used to have working on stage in New York City when I was first starting.  It was a very freeing experience.  When they called and told me I'd gotten the part I almost didn't believe them at first.  If I remember right, I think it took them a couple weeks to call me, which is generally longer than usual.  So I think I'd kind of given up on it, and then one day the call came.  It was amazing!

What was your experience in the recording booth like – did you enjoy it or find it strange?

I completely loved the experience.  As I said before it really took me back to the days of doing improv. and being on stage in New York.  There are really no rules, and Don and Chris (Directors) were so incredibly supportive of anything I wanted to try as an actor that I actually left each session feeling like I should have paid THEM for my time...it was like therapy for me.

Can you please tell us about your character Tadashi?

Tadashi is a young man, but he's a REAL man in every sense of the word.  An amazing soul, a kind and gentle heart, and he has so much love for his little brother Hiro.  After tragedy strikes him and his brother at a young age, Tadashi takes it upon himself to become sort of a father figure for his younger brother.  He's Hiro's "ROCK".....his protector, and role model.  When Hiro starts to go down potentially dangerous roads, Tadashi is there just in the nick of time put him back on track.  Tadashi is also the glue that brings this amazingly talented group of young inventors together.  A very talented inventor himself (he created Baymax), Tadashi has respect from all his peers and it’s eventually because of their love and friendship with Tadashi, that they love Hiro in the same way.

Can you tell us a bit about your Korean heritage and if you used any of these experiences to inspire your characterisation of “Tadashi”?

I'm half Korean and half Irish.  I grew up in a small farm town in Michigan, an only child.  I don't know that I actively applied any of my personal past experiences into the "Tadashi creation".  I can only say that as Asian Americans I feel that we all share a common fabric, and also have experienced similar feelings and issues with our respective identities growing up here.  I've always had a chip on my shoulder and have always been very driven to achieve what I know I'm capable of in my life.  I've never been good at taking "no" for an answer, nor am I talented at keeping my mouth shut when I feel that I'm in the right.  I believe that Tadashi may share similar characteristics with me in that respect.

What was your favourite scene in “BIG HERO 6”?

I do love the ENTIRE movie, which is not something I usually say about a film....especially one that I'm in. (haha)....But I think my favourite scene is when we first get a real taste of Baymax's "superhero potential" in his new red suit.  I LOVE that entire montage.....getting to see the character's powers, and watching Hiro's first "real" flight with Baymax around San Fransokyo.  It's just incredible.

How did it feel watching an animated character with your voice?

SURREAL. Weird in a good way. Hard to process at first, but it got easier the second and third time I watched it. I only hope that everyone is happy with the performance. It's just such an honor to be part of the Disney family, to be that character forever.  I'm a very lucky guy.

If you had to voice one of the other characters in “BIG HERO 6”, who would you choose and why?

Hmmm....that’s a tough question. I guess I would have to say Baymax.  I was doing an interview with Scott Adsit who voices Baymax in the film.  I thought it was very interesting because he said that no matter how difficult of day he was having, or if he wasn't feeling well or in a bad mood.....every time he came in to play Baymax, he left the voiceover room with a sense of peace and wellbeing.  He said that he just felt so amazing being able to play someone/something that "pure and innocent".  I think I'd like to give that shot.

Are you a Disney Animation fan and do you have any favourite films or characters?

Of course.  I love many Disney and Pixar films.  From Dumbo to Peter Pan...the list goes on and on.  For me however, I have my favourites narrowed down to two.  “Wall-E”, or "The Fox and the Hound”.  As an overall film experience I'd have to go with “The Fox and the Hound” because I was very young when I saw it the first time and it made such an incredibly lasting impression on me.  However, character-wise, I'd have to go with “Wall-E”.....I love that little bot.

Why should people go and see “Big Hero 6” in cinemas?

I could go on and on about all of the positive messages in this film.  I could talk for days about its beauty and how amazing it looks as an artistic piece.  I could also speak endlessly about the diversity of the cast and how uniquely different and intelligent these beautiful characters are…but the real answer and REAL QUESTION should be this.  ‘Why SHOULD'T people go watch “Big Hero 6”?’.......and the answer is......I can't think of ONE single reason.  It's one of the best films I've ever seen.

Joanne Peh: Qi Yuwu is like chocolate that melts slowly in the mouth

Making their first public appearance as a married couple, MediaCorp artistes Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu graced the opening of Ferrero Rocher’s first boutique in Southeast Asia Pasticceria Ferrero last night. Needless to say, love was in the air with the sweet-smelling aroma of chocolates which filled the small but cosy pop-up store just outside Wisma Atria.

Revealing “with guilt” at the media launch that he has never gifted Joanne with chocolates before, Yuwu quickly added, “Tonight may be the first time I do so!”

And so he did, when the lovebirds tried their hands at making chocolates for the first time under the guidance of Ferrero Chefs Luca Dellapiana and Alessandria Davide who flew in from Italy.

In an interview with xinmsn afterwards, Yuwu thoughtfully said that he will make his wife dark chocolates because she “cannot take sweet stuff” and added, “I think she will also belong to the ‘dark chocolate’ league as it has a strong flavour.”

Echoing that she loves dark chocolates the most, Joanne chirped, “I think he is the kind of chocolate that melts slowly in the mouth unlike those that goes ‘pop’ and other flavours start oozing out.”

The 31-year-old paralleled her hubby to chocolates that give off a different taste at different points of savouring before leaving nostalgia at the end too while Yuwu quipped that his favourite type of chocolates are “white (‘Bai’ in Chinese which also refers to Joanne’s surname) chocolates”. Aww.

Married life is great with Yuwu’s cooking

Looking all radiant, married life has been treating the newly-weds well after their hush-hush wedding in September. Although they are still adapting, “like what everyone does when they enter a next stage of their life”, Yuwu feels they have been living like other normal couples.

Well-known for his love for cooking, is he in charge of the cooking at home too?

“We both do so, but in different styles. I do it the Chinese way with huge knives and pans but she does it the Western manner with the oven and steamer,” the 38-year-old mused.

Maintaining that they will leave baby-making and a wedding banquet plans to fate since they are both currently busy filming local production 1965, Yuwu let us in that the banquet, if it happens, will be a simple affair.

Yuwu recognises Joanne’s flair for the arts

Joanne had previously mentioned of her growing interest in the arts and attributed it to Yuwu, who made her realise that she is capable of developing the inner artist in her.

Having sketched her self-portrait on Tuesday (Nov 25) for Portraits of the People spearheaded by National Gallery Singapore, the actress let in on her desire to go further and publish a children’s book or write scripts. She foresees the book to be an educational one with a theme that adults can identify with as well, in an earlier interview with xinmsn.

Backing her up, Yuwu recogises Joanne’s flair for the Arts, which he feels was all along in her but undiscovered. “All these years of acting resulted in little time for her to think about this, she has come to stage where she does not want to regret not giving it a try.”

While Joanne will dedicate most of her time to Portraits of the People and take things slower to check things that she never had the time to do off her to-do list, Yuwu will place his focus on acting and improve his culinary skills whenever he is free.

From 27 Nov, Singaporeans will have the opportunity to create their own Precious Moments in the Pasticceria Ferrero, only available for a limited period during this festive season, at Wisma Atria.Live demonstrations of the making of Ferrero Rocher by Ferrero’s specially trained Italian Chefs will be held on weekends from 29 Nov to 1 Dec.

One Direction makes Billboard history, knocks Swift from No. 1

British boy band One Direction became the only group to score four consecutive No. 1 debuts on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart on Wednesday, ousting Taylor Swift from her chart-topping reign.

One Direction's latest album, "Four", sold 387,000 copies in its first week, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

It follows the band's three previous albums, 2011's "Up All Night," 2012's "Take Me Home" and 2013's "Midnight Memories," all of which opened at No. 1 on the Billboard chart.

Sales of "Four" may have been boosted after One Direction won three times at Sunday's televised American Music Awards, including the night's top place for artist of the year. The group also performed new song "Night Changes" at the ceremony.

The band also made history on music streaming platform Spotify by scoring the most first-week streams after "Four" was streamed 11.6 million times in the United States and 30 million times worldwide. The news comes after Swift made a highly publicized move to take her music catalogue off the popular service.

Swift's "1989" dropped to No. 2 this week with 214,000 sales. The album became the biggest debut of the year after opening with 1.3 million copies, and held the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart for three consecutive weeks.

"1989" has sold more than 2.2 million copies, the second-biggest selling album of 2014, behind only Disney's "Frozen" soundtrack with 3.6 million copies.

Other new entries in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart this week include Canadian rockers Nickelback at No. 4 with "No Fixed Address" and metal group In This Moment at No. 8 with "Black Widow."

For the week ended Nov. 23, Billboard said a total of 5.5 million albums were sold, up 4 percent from the comparable week in 2013. Year-to-date sales rounded out at 215 million, down 12 percent from the same period last year.

This is the last week Nielsen SoundScan will compile the Billboard 200 album chart from sales figures alone. From next week, the album chart will reflect online streaming and digital track sales to accurately reflect which records were most in demand.

Jay Chou reveals more about upcoming wedding

With the buzz about Jay Chou and Hannah Quinlivan’s upcoming nuptials increasing as the days go by, an increasing number of revelations about the entertainer’s big day have been revealed.

Appearing at a media event to promote his good friends’ new group, CUG, reporters honed in on the rumours surrounding his upcoming wedding.

Comprising of Ken, Xiao Mai and “Ice Cream”, of which the last-named divulged that he has peeked at their wedding photos. He described them as opulent with its styling reminiscent of music videos, unlike the usual suit-and-gown affairs that most lovebirds opt for.

“Ice Cream” is said to be the one who introduced Jay and Hannah. He shared that he was out with a few girls when Jay spotted Hannah, whom he felt looked refreshing and pure. After getting her number on her behalf, the two hit it off and the rest, as they say, is history.

Jay initially maintained that he was only there to support his friends but answered questions after being badgered by the media.

Raymond Lam joins EEG for S$16.79m

Hong Kong singer-actor Raymond Lam has officially joined Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG), one of the largest agencies in Hong Kong, after signing a three-year contract worth HK$100 million (approximately S$16.79 million) with the company.

Dressed in a black suit, the 34-year-old arrived at the press conference last night in a Lamborghini. EEG’s chairman and founder Albert Yeung, as well as Raymond’s new labelmates including Joey Yung and Mani Fok, were also present at the event.

In addition, Raymond’s good friends such as Louis Koo, Miriam Yeung and Sandra Ng expressed their well wishes in a video clip. His girlfriend Karena Ng, however, was absent from the occasion due to work commitments.

During his speech, Raymond thanked Albert for his “kindness” and declared that he will continue to expand his showbiz career in singing and acting, even though his focus will be on movies.

Also, EEG has specially invited reknowned Chinese martial arts choreographer Yuen Woo-ping and several other Hong Kong filmmakers including Alan Mak and John Shum, to mould Raymond into the next action star.

While speaking to reporters, Raymond was visibly excited about his upcoming plans. “I would do anything to cooperate with the company and I hope to gain recognition in the film industry in the future,” he asserted.

Jay Chou wears a king’s underwear: Hannah Quinlivan

In a recent episode of Taiwanese talk show Here Comes Kangxi, actress-model Hannah Quinlivan was grilled by host Dee Hsu about her husband-to-be Jay Chou.

After Jay’s unprecedented revelation about his love life on Nov 16, Hannah attended the programme recording of Here Comes Kangxi with her junior labelmates Breeze last week.

When asked if Jay gave her any advice before coming on the show, the 21-year-old shyly replied: “[He said] don’t be nervous.”

Due to Dee’s shrewd interview skills, Hannah let on that Jay’s nickname for her is “little silly”. Although the multi-hyphenate is known for his preference of “not wearing underwear”, Dee further inquired about intimate details such as Jay’s favourite [type of] boxers.

“[He wears] a king’s underwear,” Hannah laughed in reply.

When the sharp-tongued host continued to probe about the couple’s first kiss, Hannah hesitated before commenting that “she does not remember”, which was met with an agitated response from Dee who shouted “Bulls**t”.

With regards to wedding details, the defenseless Hannah suggested Jay to be the one answering these queries instead. At this point, Dee’s co-host Kevin Tsai, who reportedly received a phone call from Jay prior to the recording, finally stepped forward to wrap up the interview.

“Okay, we won’t let Jay off when he comes here,” he said.

The Korean superstar that came and went like the Rain

COME AND GONE LIKE THE RAIN

You know what they say – good things come to those who wait.

And wait we did. Rain graced the glitzy Asian Couture Federation Awards Gala held at Marina Bay Sands last night, where he picked up an award for Style Icon 2014.

Dressed in a crisp white suit with geometric prints, he posed for photos before being promptly whisked off-stage, leaving even the emcees slightly mystified at his disappearing act.

Shortly after being presented the award, he took centre-stage for his stunning performances of ‘Hip Song’ and ‘La Song, from 2010’s Back to the Basic and 2014’s Rain Effect respectively.

After which, he uttered his first – and last – words of the night with a big “Thank You!” before disappearing backstage once again.

Reese Witherspoon struggled with 'Wild' sex scenes

Reese Witherspoon didn't want to shoot the emotionally raw sex scenes in her new film Wild.

The 38-year-old actress portrays Cheryl Strayed in the movie adaptation of her memoir, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, and she admits it was tough recreating the drug-fuelled lovemaking detailed in the book - which is about Cheryl's 1,100-mile bush walk of self-discovery along the Pacific Crest Trail.

Reese said: ''I remember thinking, 'I just don't want to do it.' But I had to make a choice as an artist. And Cheryl was brave enough to tell all the parts of her story in her book - the parts that probably made her feel incredibly uncomfortable and would be hard to tell her children and would be difficult to relive. I couldn't honour and do justice to her story by just picking the parts that I was comfortable with.''

The Oscar winner secured the film rights to the memoir in 2012 and was totally committed to bringing Cheryl's story to the big screen, describing the tome as ''one of the most important books I've ever read in my life''.

Cheryl decided to go backpacking at the age of 26 to re-evaluate her life after a succession of devastating events which began with the death of her mother died when she was 22, her becoming estranged from her stepfather, developing a strained relationship with her siblings, taking heroin and getting divorced from her husband.

During filming on location in Oregon and California, Reese admits she phoned her husband Jim Toth in tears, fearing she had taken on too big a task.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she recalled: ''I call my husband crying. I said, 'I ain't taking this. It's so cold.' I mean, it's really just freezing cold and windy. He said, 'When you optioned this book and decided to make a movie called Wild, what did you think it was going to be like?' I was like, 'f--- you!'

Referring to the emotional challenges of Cheryl's story, she added: ''Like one day on set I was getting divorced, and the next day my mother died. And the next day I was having sex with a stranger and shooting heroin.''

Andie Chen: Baby Aden is my beacon of hope

What did it take for local actor Andie Chen, who is usually calm and collected, to get all emotional during his interview with xinmsn yesterday? His 4-month-old son Aden, of course.

The 29-year-old, along with cast members Li Nanxing, Chris Tong, Chen Hanwei, Jeanette Aw, Romeo Tan, Shaun Chen, Felicia Chin, Desmond Tan, Carrie Wong and Brandon Wong, attended the press conference of Ch8’s blockbuster series The Journey: Tumultuous Times held at InterContinental Hotel yesterday.

In the drama, Andie plays Hong Dang Yong, the eldest son of Hong Shi (Desmond Tan) and Ya Zi (Jeanette Aw). Idealistic and fuelled by his passion for revolution, Dang Yong joined the anti-colonialism forces and was heavily involved in the fight for Singapore’s independence.

In June, the cast spent three months in Ipoh filming the drama. Sleeping only two hours every day for two weeks took a toll on Andie, who almost collapsed from exhaustion.

Did the actor especially pine for his wife, Taiwan-born MediaCorp actress Kate Pang, during those tough times?

“I missed my bed more, (laugh)” Andie chuckled. “I was so busy and drained that the only time I could call her was in the toilet, while ‘making big businesses’!”

Now, is being an actor or a dad more exhausting?

“If you are talking about other shows, being a dad is more tiring. But when you compare it with Tumultuous Times, that is definitely more taxing!” he cried.

When asked to rate his performance in regard to fatherly chores (such as changing diapers and bathing the baby), the first-time dad unabashedly gave himself 80 marks, confident that his wife would give the same score.

A self-professed hands-on dad, Andie said: “I think I’m pretty good! I wouldn’t say that I am a perfect dad because I can’t breastfeed him, but I try my best to help out. Even when Kate goes out to exercise for a few hours, I can manage quite well.”

Andie can never get mad at his son

Visibly excited at the mention of his son, Andie, who is amazed by the changes the child has brought to his life, lovingly described Aden as “a piece of blank paper that has so much goodness and purity”.

During Kate’s pregnancy, Andie remained “cool and rational” about his impending fatherhood, thinking that it was just a part of life’s processes. Without bearing excessive expectations, all he planned was to become a responsible dad and to raise the child well. Little did he know that the new member in his family could stir so many emotions in him.

“When you’re growing up, you want to become strong and successful. When you get older, you hope to contribute more to the society. When I look at my son, I see hope and I believe that he can do better than me, so I cannot let him down,” the teary-eyed actor shared.

From the pictures on Aden’s Instagram, the boy appears to be a very cheerful baby. “Yes he is! He’s a born optimist. He only cries when he is hungry or when his diaper is soiled. Otherwise, he is always smiling,” Andie said with pride. “He brings a lot of joy to us. It may be tedious to look after him, but Kate is so happy every day. Aden is a beautiful burden.”

Surprisingly candid throughout the interview, Andie confessed that he used to cringe when parents praise their own kids for being adorable. But now, the father of one has joined the league.

“I can’t help going ‘so cute’ whenever I see Aden! Last night, I was quite fatigued from the promotional activities, but I didn’t sleep well because Aden wouldn’t stop kicking my face! Despite my grogginess when I woke up, I couldn’t get mad at him because he is so cute!” he chortled.

Baby number two in the making?

Andie and Kate recently started a YouTube channel named Kandie Network, where the couple intends to share their parenting experience, starting from the actress’ natural childbirth at her Taiwan home. “Kate is an awesome mum. She did a lot of homework, read many books and is probably more knowledgeable than many parents,” Andie declared.

Currently, Andie is in charge of all production procedures (from filming to editing) of the videos that are published on the non-profit channel. While it is time-consuming, the dedicated chap hopes to continue creating new content.

In addition, Andie hinted that his wife, who is in the midst of discussion with the company, could be returning to the small screen very soon. Determined to place his loved ones on the top of his priority list, the actor divulged his plans for the family of three to stay in Singapore next year. Andie has also decided to reduce his work load in 2015, as long as he can afford it financially. “Wifey, hurry and return to work!” he laughed.

And that came from a guy who will be spending a five-figure sum on his son’s upcoming baby party, where nearly 200 guests have been invited. “Aden is already 4 months old, but many of our relatives and friends have never seen him in real life (as he had been staying in Taiwan with Kate), so it’s a chance for everyone to meet him and to share our happiness! It is also a show of respect for the elders,” Andie explained.

However, the couple, who are not fond of weddings, will not be throwing a belated banquet anytime soon. In the event that they do, the ceremony will most likely be held overseas.

What about plans for baby number two?

“My first reaction when Kate talked about having another baby was: ‘No! I can’t even sleep well now.’ But as I watch Aden grow, I feel like I will miss him as a baby. Perhaps when I have the urge to fuss over an infant again, we would try for a second one. As for now, please give us some space!” the actor pleaded with a smile.

The Journey: Tumultuous Times premieres November 24 at 9pm on Ch8.

Malaysian-born Singapore-based singer Eric Moo’s 81-year-old father has passed away from colon cancer last Saturday (Nov 22) night in Singapore.

During his concert Eric Moo In Concert held earlier this month, the 51-year-old revealed that his father was diagnosed with the illness in April and hoped for him to persevere so that he could attend his concert next year. Unfortunately, his condition took a turn for the worse.

On Saturday night, Eric mourned his father’s passing on Weibo: “I was not able to hold your hand at your last moments, I can’t bear for you to leave. Please go in peace and I will return to you soon. Do know that the separation is temporary, we will meet again in the Heavens.”

The Honorary Award winner at this year’s Singapore Hit Awards flew in yesterday to attend his father’s funeral but plagued with fatigue, Eric refused to talk about “family matters” when journalists rang him up. Felicia Chin is tickled by Romeo Tan’s moustache

In her first project after rejoining MediaCorp in March, local actress Felicia Chin took on her maiden period drama role as Zhang Min in Ch8 blockbuster series The Journey: Tumultuous Times. While speaking to xinmsn at the press conference on Wednesday, the 30-year-old let on about her numerous emotionally intense scenes in the drama.

Caught in a love triangle with Hong Dang Yong (Andie Chen) and Zhang Yan (Romeo Tan), Zhang Min is a passionate school teacher who leads her students in protests against colonial rule.

Initially, Felicia was worried about acting as Hong Dang Yong's childhood sweetheart in her and Andie's first film collaboration. To her surprise, Andie took initiative to text her and discuss their roles before filming commenced, which left a good impression on the actress.

The relationship between Felicia and Romeo’s characters is at the other end of the spectrum. Crazed by his “love” and possessiveness, Zhang Yan locked his non-blood related cousin Zhang Min in an abandoned building, where he sexually assaulted her.

“Everyone was very serious, but there were also some comedic moments,” Felicia recalled. “I was completely enveloped with emotions, but when Romeo leaned in to forcibly kiss me, I burst out laughing!”

And the reason for that is because of Romeo’s facial hair. “When he is tired, his moustache grows very fast. We filmed that scene in the afternoon and his moustache had grown out by then, so it felt very ticklish!” she chuckled.

Although Felicia claimed to have good chemistry with Romeo, the actress was “awakened by his kiss” and could not stop laughing even after several takes. In the end, Romeo had to shave on the spot before filming continued.

However, the giggly actress insisted that there was no awkwardness as she is very close to Romeo in real life. “It makes filming easier when we are familiar with each other. Actually, I am glad that Romeo is my co-star because we communicate well,” she added.

But Felicia chose to keep details about the rape scene from her mother. “I like to give my mum surprises. (laugh) I don’t want her to think too much, so I’d usually tell her after filming wrapped,” she explained.
When we brought up Joanne Peh’s rape scene in The Little Nyonya which won her the “Best Actress” trophy at the Star Awards 2009, Felicia said that the most important thing is for viewers to support The Journey: Tumultuous Times.
“This is my comeback project and I think all the actors did a great job. I haven’t really thought about it (Star Awards), but it would definitely be a huge encouragement if I do get nominated,” the actress humbly replied.
Three months of filming in Ipoh certainly forged a strong bond between the cast of The Journey: Tumultuous Times. In a group chat among the actors, Andie often shared photos and videos of his four-month-old son Aden, which seemed to have triggered Felicia’s motherly instinct.
“I’ve always wanted to have a baby! When I see Andie and my friends who became parents at a young age and have a lot of energy to look after their kids, I’m a little envious, to be honest,” she confessed.
Nevertheless, being surrounded by friends who are married with children also meant that Felicia has “many babies to play with”, which has satisfied the busy actress for now.
The Journey: Tumultuous Times premieres November 24 at 9pm on Ch8.

Gaile Lok reportedly breaks up with boyfriend

Following her divorce from Hong Kong actor-singer Leon Lai in 2012, model Gaile Lok struck up a romance with her New Zealander beau, Denim, and even moved to Bali with him.

But the two reportedly broke up after dating for two years and insiders revealed it was Gaile who ended the relationship due to a clash in personalities.

It is said that the 34-year-old’s view towards love changed after her divorce and she has placed her priority on work despite frequent rumours of a second marriage.

In April, Gaile started a jewellery label and even took on the role of a designer. However after her split with Denim, she shifted the headquarters of her label from Bali to the States and even spent her birthday in August in San Francisco.

Denim is understood to be holding on to the relationship and even travelled to the States in hopes of a reconciliation but to no avail.

Chen Shiang-chyi beats Gong Li to win Best Actress award

At the prestigious 51st Golden Horse Awards ceremony held in Taipei last Saturday (Nov 22), Taiwanese actress Chen Shiang-chyi beat Chinese actress Gong Li to bag her first Best Actress award of the ceremony after two previous nominations.

It was Gong Li’s first nomination in the award ceremony but despite her stellar performance in movie Coming Home by Zhang Yi Mou, 44-year-old Shiang-chyi won with her role in Taiwanese movie Exit.

In her emotional acceptance speech, she said, “After so many years of practicing, I finally sowed the results today.”

While Gong Li was seen clapping for her, another nominee, Tang Wei, was visibly disappointed.

On the other hand, the biggest winner of the night was Chinese actor Chen Jian Bin who snagged three awards. The first-time director took home the Best New Director with his film, A Fool. The 44-year-old, who was also the male lead of the movie, beat hot-favourite thespian Liao Fan to win the Best Actor Award.

Also bagging the Best Supporting Actor award with his role in Paradise in Service, Jian Bin thanked everyone for their support, especially his seven-year-old son. “Today is a very special day, I will remember it well,” he said, before kissing his actress wife Angel Jiang, who was in tears of joy.

When asked how the couple plans to celebrate the wins, Angel quipped, “I have already given him a son,” but revealed bashfully thereafter that she “may consider” bearing him another child.

Additionally, the Best Director award went to Ann Hui for The Golden Era and Regina Wan won the Best Supporting Actress award with Paradise in Service.

Zayn Malik ready to quit One Direction

Zayn Malik is reportedly ready to leave One Direction.

The 21-year-old musician is said to be tired of being famous and wants to quit the band - who released their fourth studio album, 'Four', this week - in favour of a more relaxed and peaceful lifestyle.

An insider revealed: ''Zayn is fed up with the whole fame thing. He loves singing and his fans but he just wants a quiet life now.''

The 'Steal My Girl' singer is also thought to be considering the departure in order to spend more time with Little Mix star Perrie Edwards, as he wants to settle down with the singer who he proposed to in August 2013.

Talking to the Sunday People newspaper, the source continued: ''He has become increasingly disappointed with the little amount of time he can spend with Perrie.

''Unfortunately she is in a band too, they have so little time together.

''Zayn appreciates how lucky he is, but life is about family for him and he is seeing too little of his loved ones.''

Their struggle to fit quality time together into their busy schedules has also meant the couple have not been able to make plans for their nuptials.

He admitted: ''We are engaged... I've had a few questions about plans for the marriage; we haven't really had any plans yet.''

Despite an imminent ceremony being unlikely, Zayn's bandmates - Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne - have already started planning a pre-wedding celebration, and hope to whisk the handsome hunk off to Las Vegas for a debaucherous stag party.

Niall told OK! magazine: ''You know where we're taking you, don't you Zayn ... Vegas!''

Nancy Wu and boyfriend’s split not due to third party

TVB actress Nancy Wu announced at an event for drama Overachievers last Saturday (Nov 15) that she had broken up with her beau, businessman Patt Shum.

The couple have been dating for more than two years and had reportedly split because he was two-timing her.

However, Nancy cleared the air and defended her ex-boyfriend at a Christmas event held on Sunday, “There have been reports saying I was angry that he cheated on me but nothing like that happened. He is not from the media industry and I don’t want everyone to think he treated me badly.”

The 33-year-old then requested that the media help clarify the matter and added, “He treats me very well and never did anything to let me down. Please don’t trust those [false] reports.”

Putting on a smile to hide her pain, Nancy said she will “focus on work first and it will depend on fate” if the two, who are still friends, could reconcile in future.

Prior to Patt, she dated actor Kenneth Ma for a year in 2010 but they went their separate ways due to differences in personality. When asked about what qualities she looks for in her future partner, Nancy expressed, “Many factors are involved when two people are in love, such as timing and fate. Of course, I hope we can be together till the end but for now, I just leave it to fate.”

Girl’s Day: A group of playful tomboys

Photos: Dream Tea Entertainment

If you want to catch the attention of Girl’s Day (particularly that of member Hyeri) at their upcoming KStar Fanfest showcase, it’s simple: be a girl.

“Since we have so many male fans, female fans catch my attention,” wrote the maknae (youngest member) of the K-pop quartet in an e-mail interview.

But don’t worry, boys, there’s more than one way to stand out from a crowd of DAI5Y (their official fan club name) devotees – Minah, Yura and Sojin all cited concertgoers who cheer with vigorous enthusiasm as attention grabbers, with Sojin adding, “Or eye-catching boards with our names on it!”

Girl’s Day has certainly come a long way since they first burst onto the scene in 2010 with ‘Tilt My Head’, which proved to be a less-than-stellar debut effort. Then, just two months later, Yura and Hyeri replaced original members Ji Sun and Ji In, who left to pursue their own interests (another original member, Ji Hae, would also depart in 2012).

A new single ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ and their first TV show We Are Dating followed, but it wasn’t until the release of ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ in 2011 that the lasses finally started picking up speed in the vicious race of Hallyu popularity. Now, they’re one of the names to take note of in an oversaturated market, churning out mega-hits like ‘Something’ and ‘Darling’.

“First of all, we all turned into adults,” said Hyeri, when asked how the group has changed since their humble beginnings. Sojin elaborated, “We’ve become more mature and passionate towards our career.”

But there is still, of course, plenty more room to grow, as they acknowledged. “We have been moving forward step by step and I want us to continue growing constantly,” said Minah. Hyeri expressed her desire to keep delivering great songs to their fans, and Yura wants to experience new things.

Sojin, ever the thoughtful leader, shared that in addition to being successful as a band, she hopes that the individual members of Girl’s Day will thrive in their solo activities as well.

We don’t think she needs to worry about the latter wish not coming to pass. All four girls are already establishing themselves in areas outside of singing, with acting, hosting, song-writing and variety show ventures already tucked neatly under their belts.

Read on to find out what a perfect Girl’s Day out would be, who are the most and least girly members of the group, and more:

Beyonce 'rescued' sister's wedding

Beyonce Knowles ''rescued'' her sister's wedding.

Solange tied the knot with videographer Alan Ferguson last Sunday (16.11.14) but the nuptials nearly resulted in a disaster when the 'Losing You' hitmaker reacted badly to the seafood.

The bride's mother, Tina, said: ''[Solange] went through the wedding and the sit-down dinner and she was just fine, and then they had a second line in the streets of New Orleans and she was dancing so hard, I think she just got overheated.

''And the seafood - she had a reaction to it. So her face broke out in welts.''

The 28-year-old bride disappeared from the festivities for two hours, whilst Beyonce gave her an allergy tablet.

Tina explained: ''[Beyonce] took her back to the hotel and gave her Benadryl and in two hours she showed up at the reception and did the dance with her son and just had a ball.''

Tina, 60, continued to gush about the ''heartfelt'' wedding.

She told Entertainment Tonight: ''There wasn't a dry eye in the place.

''[The couple] were just so heartfelt and I just think the wedding epitomised Solange as a person, and her and Alan's artistic flare.''

Meanwhile, sources revealed that Beyonce and Jay Z had a great time at the wedding, too.

An insider previously said: ''Beyonce and Jay Z were totally into it and so affectionate. They both kept putting their hands on each other's butts and they were dancing up a storm.

''Beyonce and Jay Z were so friendly to everyone and very gracious. They seemed so genuinely happy. They were having the best night.''
