Luhan and Zhang Li Yin emerge as potential I Am a Singer contenders

Chinese reality singing programme I Am a Singer could possibly become a stage for either Luhan or Zhang Li Yin to showcase their vocal skills.

The show’s official website has included both artistes as possible contenders on their programme. I Am a Singer has declared that the artiste with the most number of votes will be invited to take part in a battle with the show’s existing participants. Among the other potential participants are Chinese singers Hu Xia and Wei Chen.

Zhang Li Yin is a Chinese solo singer under S.M. Entertainment. Last year, she released two singles, Not Alone and Agape after a long hiatus. Her last studio single, Moving On, was released in 2009. She is said to be releasing an album this year, with the details to be revealed at a later time.

Lu Han was formerly from S.M.’s hugely popular boy band, EXO, but has been inactive after filing a lawsuit to nullify his contract with the label. The 24-year-old has been actively pursuing a career in acting after leaving Korea and has been confirmed to star in at least one Chinese film. If chosen, this would serve as his official comeback to his singing career.

Currently leading in the polls is Zhang Li Yin and Wei Chen with over four million votes each.

The 24-year-old "Hunger Games" star is quite vocal about her love of reality TV and the Kardashian family. "After it's 11, I'm like, 'Don't these kids ever get tired?' When I'm out, I think about my couch," she told Marie Claire South Africa in 2012. "Like, 'It would be awesome to be on it right now. I bet there's an episode of Dance Moms on. Am I missing a new episode of 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians'?"

"'Shark Tank'. Wait, oh, 'Dance Moms' -- that is a good one! O.K., maybe my favorite is 'Dance Moms', but I do love my Real Housewives. But there’s also -- there's 'Doomsday Preppers'. Nick Jonas' fake proposal

Olivia Culpo thought Nick Jonas was going to propose to her.

The 22-year-old singer made his girlfriend ''panic'' during his performance at the annual Miss Universe pageant when he got down on one knee in front of her.

He said: ''I went down and sang to her and I got on a knee and sort of approached her.

''Her face was in full panic - she thinks I'm going to propose on national TV in front of the whole world! One billion people watch that.''

When asked if he would propose to the beauty queen, he added: ''We're 22, so there's plenty of time to do that. We are very happy.''

Meanwhile, Nick also revealed that his song, 'Jealous', was inspired by his relationship with Olivia.

He shared to The Sun newspaper: ''The song came about nine months into our relationship. Someone kept staring at her and it was kind of uncomfortable because we were clearly on a date. It was such a disrespectful situation.

''We were at the beginning of our relationship, so I would have those moments of feeling nervous and jealous.

''The song is a topic many men are afraid to talk about. It's vulnerable and it's a weird position to be in. But instead of getting frustrated, I went to the studio and wrote the song the next day.''

Joanne Peh talks baby bump and weird cravings

“Do I want a baby? Yes. When is it going to happen – I don’t know,” said then newly-married Joanne Peh, during the press conference for 1965, when we broached the topic about having a family of her own last October.

Now fast-forward to today, three to four months later, Joanne and her husband Qi Yuwu are expecting their first child together and released the good news yesterday afternoon after news of her pregnancy leaked. It was earlier reported that Joanne is currently three months pregnant but in fact, the actress told us she’s just a few days shy of reaching her first trimester.

The mother-to-be shared over a phone interview that they learned of the “good news” when they were in the middle of filming SG50 movie, 1965. “We’re happy, we’re overjoyed, excited as with any first-time parents,” she said.

The actress shared that a few scenes in the movie (like those of her getting bumped or falling) were tweaked to accommodate her pregnancy, and a few crew members like the executive producer, director and assistant director were informed of the good news beforehand. And filming went on as per usual for Joanne, who plays a feisty coffee shop owner called Zhou Jun, in the upcoming period movie

Read on for more as Joanne shares on how she’s coping with her pregnancy, her weird cravings for local food and her future work plans.

Joanne's pregnancy cravings involves all sorts of local food © Provided by xinmsn Joanne's pregnancy cravings involves all sorts of local food

xinmsn: Congratulations! How does it feel to be expecting a baby?

Joanne: We’re happy, overjoyed and excited as with any first-time parents. We don’t know what to expect and what it’s going to be like. I was concerned with some of the things I can or cannot eat, and if I could exercise. Because I’ve been a very active and independent person, I’d do a lot of things on my own and then suddenly now I have to take a step back, slow down and let others take care of some stuff for me.

Even buying groceries and stuff – sometimes my husband is not in Singapore and I have a lot of things to do by myself. And I’m quite grateful that during this period of time that I have my husband with me and he’s not away. It’s been good (chuckles), I’m getting used to the princess treatment.

Will Yuwu be accompanying you in Singapore throughout your pregnancy?

He’d be going back to China after Chinese New Year for a project and would only come back in the middle of the year for The Dream Makers part 2, I think. We’re not sure also. It depends on where his filming is going to take place.

Will you be travelling with him or will you be based in Singapore?

I don’t know. If it’s a convenient place for me to be at, I could be there too. If not it’d be better for me to be in Singapore also because of some work commitments. (Ed’s note: Joanne will be travelling to Guangzhou for a month in her second trimester to spend the Chinese New Year with her in-laws too)

How did Yuwu react when you guys discovered that you are pregnant?

He was overjoyed and very happy. (Laughs) He also repeatedly asked: ‘Is it confirmed? Are you sure? Can you double or triple confirm it?’

Did you guys foresee having a baby so quickly, after getting married in September last year?

We did say that we’d let nature take its course and so if it happens, it happens. That was how we kept to it. We’re also aware of how sometimes you keep trying and trying and you don’t always get lucky. I think for us we’re very blessed and we sort of ‘got it’. We don’t want to wait or anything like that.

Joanne and Yuwu at the filming of Channel U's Going Home 3 © Provided by xinmsn Joanne and Yuwu at the filming of Channel U's Going Home 3

How did you cope having to film while being pregnant in the early stages?

I think there were some things I still had to do – crying, running and all that. Thankfully we found out after all the gruelling scenes were done. So okay lah, everything’s good. I don’t have violent nausea or anything like that so it’s been quite okay. I just didn’t really have an appetite at night in the beginning  and I don’t really want to eat that much at night. I think my digestion is a bit slower and I can’t eat a lot and I have to eat slower otherwise I’ll get bloated. But now my appetite is back. People tell me the second trimester is the most comfortable so I’m looking forward to enjoying it.

Do you have any particular food cravings?

Yes! And it changes. It started off with local food like Hokkien mee and chicken rice, and then suddenly I didn’t want that anymore and I just wanted sandwiches – anything with bread is good for me. And then after that, it became really funny food that I never used to like when I wasn’t pregnant. Suddenly I’d have a craving for my dad’s mixed porridge or my mum’s fried rice (and I never ate fried rice last time). Now it’s lup cheong fan (Chinese sausage rice) and I’d never touch it last time, but now I want to have it.

Will we see you take on any new projects during this period of time?

I don’t think I can do dramas but I’m open to any possibilities. In fact, I’m doing something with the National Gallery Singapore and going to schools to speak with them about the art gallery and also introduce some work. Actually I’d be going for training tomorrow morning (Thursday) too – that’s what the school outreach projects are about. I’m open to variety shows or one-off jobs. Nothing too strenuous or time-consuming would be good for me to do still.

Is Yuwu particular about the kind of projects you take on now?

He’s definitely concerned about my health and wellbeing but he’s not that controlling in that sense. The most important thing is for me to be happy. If I feel so bored staying at home or if he tells me I cannot exercise, I’d be very depressed. He’s been very supportive, as long as it’s nothing too strenuous or too jumpy.

Do you foresee yourself going straight back to work after delivery?

Gosh, I don’t know. I think I want to jump right back to work but there are certain practical things like breastfeeding that I need to consider too - and also finding the right projects as well. I’m at the stage where I want to really do something I believe in and something that I can be inspired by (and) that also means being more selective about work. If there’s an appropriate opportunity, I’d love to do it.

Selena Gomez's friends are 'wary' of new boyfriend

Selena Gomez's friends are reportedly ''a little bit wary'' of her new romance with Zedd.

The 22-year-old singer, who split from Justin Bieber last October after almost five years of dating, is ''having fun'' with the DJ, but her friends are worried she could get her heart broken again.

An insider said: ''Selena's friends are a little bit wary while remaining hopeful, but ultimately right now he is making Selena happy and he is not Justin Bieber so that's a good thing.''

The 'Rudderless' actress is ''really happy'' to be dating the Russian-German music producer, 25.

The source told E! News: ''Everything is going great with him. She is really happy and they are having fun.''

The pair, who are collaborating in the recording studio together, first sparked dating rumours when they were spotted holding hands at a Golden Globe Awards after-party earlier this month.

Zedd - real name Anton Zaslavski - flew to Atlanta, Georgia last weekend to spend time with the actress while she shoots her upcoming film, 'The Fundamentals of Caregiving,' alongside Paul Rudd and Craig Roberts.

The 'The Heart Wants What It Wants' hitmaker was also spotted signing autographs for fans who showed up to the set during a break.

An eyewitness said: ''At one point, Selena walked off set and interacted with her fans. There are about 16 young girls there, Selena was nice to each person. She took photos and said hi to them. She was really sweet.''

David Beckham is excited to turn 40

David Beckham is ''looking forward'' to turning 40.

The 39-year-old star, who is set to celebrate the milestone on May 2, doesn't want to have a big party for the occasion, but insists he isn't afraid of getting older.

He said: ''I'm not worried about turning 40. People keeping turning around and saying, 'You're turning 40 - how do you feel?' And I'm like, 'I feel fine. I'm looking forward to it.' I just don't want a big party because I don't like that kind of attention, but I'll do a quiet dinner with friends.''

The retired soccer star, who models underwear for H&M, also laughed off suggestions of a rivalry between him and new Calvin Klein model Justin Bieber, 20, because he is ''slightly older.''

Asked what he thinks of the younger star's debut ad campaign for the brand, he told E! News: ''Not bad, not bad, not bad. He looks good in his underwear ads. He looks very good.''

David launched his new single-grain Scotch whisky, Haig Club, in the US this week, but was reluctant to promote alcohol in the past because he ''didn't feel it was the right thing to do'' as a professional athlete.

He explained: ''I can enjoy a drink now during the week without worrying about, 'Oh, I'm playing this weekend or I'm training in the morning.' I kind of enjoy a glass of wine or a glass of whiskey without kind of thinking, 'Oh, I have to get up really early and run around the field tomorrow.'''

But he had to convince his wife Victoria Beckham, 40, who isn't the ''biggest drinker in the world,'' to support his first first foray into the beverage industry by making her a special cocktail.

He said: ''She was actually very impressed that I had come up with this cocktail, which I made her believe I actually came up with. She liked it. Now she's a whisky drinker.''

Lee Min Ho to return to the small screen

Korean actor Lee Min Ho has declared to his fans that he will be choosing a drama for his next project. The actor is currently in the midst of promoting his first leading movie role in Gangnam Blues.

Having shot to popularity through his role of Gu Jun Pyo in high school drama Boys over Flowers, the actor was regarded as one of the most promising actors. He proved his diversity through projects such as Personal Taste, City Hunter and Faith but returned to his rich boy image with 2013’s The Heirs.

His image took a 180 degree turn once again for Gangnam Blues, in which he plays a gangster in the 1970s. In a previous visit to Singapore, the actor revealed that he stopped applying moisturizer on his face to achieve a more rugged look that would be more convincing for his role, showing his dedication to his work.

The 27-year-old thanked fans for their continued support during a recent Hong Kong fan meeting, acknowledging that they have waited for a long time for him to return to the small screen. He revealed that he is intending to pick a drama for his next project, with the rest of his schedule for the year filled with other potential activities such as concerts and fan meetings in other locations.

Gangnam Blues is slated to open in local cinemas on January 29.

Wallace Chung rumoured to be secretly married

Hong Kong legendary actor Wallace Chung was recently rumoured to have married his stylist three years ago.

Speculations of his marital status surfaced following his rising popularity due to Chinese drama My Sunshine. Wallace, who made his debut over 20 years ago, gained a strong standing in the industry after participating in drama series in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.

Despite being at the age of 40, Wallace reached his new career peak for his interpretation of the role of a 20-over-year-old man in My Sunshine.

Curiosity also rose with regards to Wallace’s mysterious love life, leading to claims by a netizen that Wallace had already tied the knot with his stylist Rita. The two are said to have known each other when Rita styled Wallace for his album All Eyes on Me which was released in 2010.

Netizens provided ‘proof’ that the two are indeed a couple, digging up old photographs of them wearing matching watches. Rita also matched Wallace’s description of his ideal type – an independent, jovial woman who has hair with a straight fringe and long legs – raising greater suspicion.

However, Rita is not the first rumoured partner of Wallace. Wallace and his co-star, Chinese actress Qi Fang, were also previously speculated to have married in secret. The rumour was later disproved when Qi Fang married a wealthy man.

Though Wallace remains relatively free of scandals to date, sources have repeatedly claimed that he is already married with children.

When asked about his love life, Wallace usually declined to comment or awkwardly denied his rumours. He has yet to address marriage speculations with Rita.

Youyi ends her 2-year marriage and wishes for simple love

Local television host and actress Youyi is currently in the midst of ending her two-year marriage.

The 34-year-old attended the press conference of Channel 8’s upcoming sitcom A Blessed Life last Friday alongside leading actors and actress Li Nanxing, Chen Liping, Zhu Houren, Richard Low and Brandon Wong.

Youyi ends her 2-year marriage and wishes for simple love © Provided by xinmsn Youyi ends her 2-year marriage and wishes for simple love

After recently regaining her role as a newscaster on Channel 8’s revamped evening news show Hello Singapore, Youyi challenged herself by acting as Li Nanxing’s girlfriend in the new drama – a materialistic woman who later discovered that her only wish was to find a trustworthy man whom she could rely on in life.

Reflecting on her role, Youyi shared her thoughts on love in her interview with xinmsn. “When I was in my twenties, I wished for a passionate relationship. I fantasised about how my lover and I would stay strong in our relationship against all odds,” she rattled on chirpily.

“As I matured with age, I began to think less about whom I’m sleeping next to. Rather, I thought more about who would be next to me when I wake up,” she said frankly.

“Being able to see that special someone once I wake up every day and feel safe is already something blissful. Nothing beats living a simple and peaceful life.”

However, Youyi’s candid comment seemingly hinted at the present state of her marriage. Though the couple tied the knot two years ago, they are currently separated and Youyi has shifted out of their home to stay with her parents.

When asked if her participation in dramas after becoming a full-time artiste caused their relationship to be estranged, Youyi denied that her work was to blame.

“We have discussed our separation for quite some time and have trusted our lawyers to handle the issue. Work is just a small matter that would not contribute to it.”

She gave an ambiguous reply as to whether the couple are still on talking terms, stating that she was not ready to disclose more details now.

She also kindly declined to comment further as she wishes to respect the privacy of her ex-husband and his family as they are not celebrities.

Eating was once her solution to work stress

The television host turned actress once commented that she was not suitable to be an actress and admitted to feeling immense stress while starring in Blessings last year. She even resorted to excessive eating to relieve her stress and started to develop feelings against acting.

“It was a pressurising and a scary experience at the previous time. I was constantly weighed down by thoughts about the scenes I needed to film and the emotions I had to channel in my acting daily,” she recalled.

“While my role in Blessings required me to gobble down bowls of soya beancurd whenever she was upset, fried rice and noodles were my comfort food to help me feel better after I ended my filming every day.”

However, Youyi also assured that she is more comfortable with acting now. She found her love for acting again while filming A Blessed Life, as the storyline is more relaxed and relevant to daily life.

Furthermore, co-star Li Nanxing has also given her great help during their filming. Not only did the veteran actor do a great job in remembering his lines and positions, he was also mindful of other actors on set.

Recounting a scene where the two had to engage in a conversation while walking and holding hands, Youyi vividly remembered that Nanxing had held her hand and led her to their positions, allowing her to complete the scene confidently and with ease.

Catch A Blessed Life when it premieres on Jan 29, every Thursday at 8:30pm on Ch8.

2PM's Nichkhun attacked by 'TaeNy' shipper fans again

Once again, Nichkhun has been unpleasantly treated by fans of Tiffany and Taeyeon shipper, or known as ‘TaeNy’. It started when the 2PM member was having a ‘fan talk’ through his private Twitter account on January 26.

He suddenly received a message from a fan who requested him to break up with Tiffany.

“BREAK UP WITH TIFFANY SHE’S TOO GOOD FOR YOU AND SHE’S ALREADY DATING TAEYEON,” the fan wrote in capital letters.

Unlike his previous reaction, he finally replied the fan’s message. “Thank you for your comment!^^,” he tweeted.

It was not the first time for fans to treat him this way. Nichkhun had received a similar treatment from fans of ‘TaeNy’ shipper, which had caused the Thailand born idol to block a fan’s account on Twitter.

Taylor Swift says Twitter, Instagram accounts were hacked

Pop star Taylor Swift said her Twitter and Instagram accounts were hacked on Tuesday, but the rogue posts were quickly removed from the social media services.

The 25-year-old "Shake It Off" singer, whose album "1989" has been atop the charts for the past three months, has built a following of young fans through social media and has the fourth-most popular Twitter account with 51.4 million followers.

"My Twitter got hacked but don't worry, Twitter is deleting the hacker tweets and locking my account until they can figure out how this happened and get me new passwords," said a statement posted on Swift's personal Tumblr page.

"Never a dull moment," the statement added before another posting said that Swift's Instagram account had been hacked as well.

Celebrities are frequent targets of hackers who have posted personal and embarrassing information online in previous high-profile hacks.

Swift's publicist did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Twitter Inc and Facebook Inc-owned Instagram did not immediately respond to requests for comment on whether Swift's accounts had been hacked.

The Grammy winner was back to tweeting two hours after the hacking, in which users were asked to follow two accounts that Twitter now lists as suspended.

"Cause the hackers gonna hack, hack, hack, hack, hack ...," Swift tweeted, mimicking the lyrics to her hit "Shake It Off."

The apparent hacking of Swift's accounts came as Facebook, the world's largest social network, experienced a wide outage on Tuesday. A hacker group sought to claim responsibility, but the company said the outage was its fault.

Tammy Chen accepts boyfriend’s proposal

Taiwanese actress Tammy Chen (Yi Rong) has accepted her plastic surgeon boyfriend Xue Boren’s proposal, just three months after they started dating.

Sources revealed that the couple met via mutual friends and quickly fell in love with each other as they got along very well.

Currently filming a new drama in Yunlin, China, Tammy appeared to be very calm when she learned that her relationship came to light yesterday. “I know he is Mr. Right. We just need the right timing [to get married],” she shared.

According to media reports, Boren is divorced with a son from his previous marriage. When asked if her parents have any objections to their romance, Tammy denied it and said: “He didn’t hide anything about his past which I don’t really care about. What matters is the future that we are going to spend together.”

Due to her packed schedule, the 35-year-old actress is expected to wrap filming in May and will only have time to prepare for her wedding in the second half of the year.

Vanness Wu and wife Arissa Cheo patch up after month-long fight

Arissa Cheo proved the public wrong of a rocky marriage with her husband Vanness Wu after she shared a photo of their new Taipei crib yesterday, with Vanness in the background.

The couple’s marriage was speculated to be experiencing problems after Arissa angered Vanness by writing an explicit-laden photo caption last month. The two unfollowed each other on Instagram after Arissa agitatedly replied netizens who commented on her swearing.

Earlier this month, Arissa also posted a picture on Instagram of a crying comic girl (which she later deleted) and wrote in the captions, “I wish I were a man. I wish I were brave. I wish I were strong. I wish I was fearless… I wish… a woman’s struggle n what goes on behind the scenes, no one will ever know and understand. after all, at the end of the day, us girls just wanna be girls right, not men? x (sic)”

Netizens speculated the captions to be linked to her marriage with Vanness. While the couple’s close friend Elva Hsiao even left an encouraging message saying, “I will always be by your side,” Vanness still has not responded till this day.

However, the 32-year-old Singaporean heiress wife left a cheeky caption for a photo of their new posh and classy dining room that read, “Where is the second surprise in the photo?”

Netizens were quick to pick up her hint by spotting Vanness seated at the dining table showing a peace sign, seemingly proving that the couple has reconciled.

Lee Minho wants to meet his lover just like in Korean dramas

News about Lee Minho’s love relationships was last heard when he broke up with park Min Young, his co-star in drama ‘City Hunter’ in 2012. Since then, there has been no news regarding the 27 year old actor’s romance this year.

When he was interviewed by Daily Hankook, he admitted that he never hides about his love relationships. He even dreamed about ‘the one’ just like in a scene from a Korean drama.

“I’m always open about love. I’m still waiting for ‘the one’. I dream about meeting her sitting next to me on a plane,” he said.

For the handsome actor, falling in love is not an easy thing. Due to his profession and status as a celebrity, like it or not, he has to be careful when he falls in love and wants to reveal his feelings to her.

“But, I have to be careful. I don’t have the choice of observing the person whom I like. So if I’m sure, I will make a move. That is why it is a slim chance for me. This is a sad truth,” he explained.

“I don’t have special hobbies. I can’t drink. Sometimes, I drink a little bit of beer when I’m with friends or skiing. And I’m always looking for something new to do,” continued the idol who almost became a professional soccer player.

Meanwhile, Minho's new movie ‘Gangnam 1970′ is successfully on the market and became a box office hit with more than one million viewers.

Emma Watson Will Star as Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast

Harry Potter alum and international sweetheart Emma Watson has been cast as Belle in Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast feature.

The movie will be directed by Bill Condon (The Fifth Estate, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Parts 1 and 2) and doesn't yet have a release date.

We can expect this to be in the same vein as Disney's latest live-action fairy-tale interpretations like 2014's Maleficent and this year's Cinderella. Listen, we're not saying we predicted this, but we kind of predicted this.

Li Nanxing hopeful of new career peak in Taiwan

Singaporean veteran actor Lee Nanxing said he is eager for more drama opportunities in Taiwan and would be part of a big film collaboration between Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan this year.

The renowned actor opened a new route in his career when he participated in Taiwanese action serial drama Justice Heroes since last December after being fervently sought after by Taiwan television channel Formosa TV (FTV).

Nanxing plays the role of a Singaporean undercover detective who is nimble and adept in fighting. In the show, Nanxing flaunts many fighting sequences in dangerous scenes and is slated to complete his filming of his parts this April.

Despite his busy schedule, Nanxing graced the press conference last Friday (23 Jan) for Channel 8’s new sitcom A Blessed Life, in which he plays the lead role alongside Chen Liping, Zhu Houren, Richard Low, Brandon Wong and You Yi.

Lead actors and actresses of A Blessed Life graced the press conference last Friday © Provided by xinmsn Lead actors and actresses of A Blessed Life graced the press conference last Friday

In his interview with xinmsn, Nanxing revealed that he did not specifically request for any drama roles in FTV’s dramas. When FTV had offered his current role in Justice Heroes, Nanxing thought it would be a good opportunity to challenge himself and gain an eye-opening experience while working in a different environment.

He also admitted that he had accepted the role to ‘test the waters’, provide more opportunities for actors and actresses in Singapore to participate in dramas elsewhere and bring greater recognition for them.

Though Nanxing is a veteran actor in Singapore with an outstanding portfolio of dramas, movies and awards, he was not spared from a culture shock due to the vast difference between Singapore and Taiwan’s entertainment industry.

The first thing that caught him off-guard was the fast pace and high pressure of the filming process.

Nanxing shared that on his first day of filming the drama, he was given a short time to familiarise with the script and rehearse with the cast. When the camera was set to roll, Nanxing acted his role believing that it was simply a test run. However, the crew ended the scene after one try and moved on to the next scene, alarming Nanxing as he thought it was just a practice.

He also regularly received his script at close to 4 a.m. on the day of his filming, giving him limited time to explore ways to interpret his lines and be familiarised with his role.

Fortunately, Nanxing assured that he has began to feel comfortable with the speed of his new work environment. He also expressed his gratitude towards fellow helpful and friendly casts and crew.

When asked to rate his own performance on the show, the well-respected actor expressed his worry of gaining acceptance from the Taiwanese audience. Nanxing admitted that though he may be well known in Singapore, his shows remain foreign to many people in Taiwan.

However, Nanxing’s efforts began to pay off, as he would frequently be recognised on the streets of Taiwan. He also added chirpily, “When they see me, some of them would sing praises of my acting.”

Health is the greatest importance in his life

Recent Taiwanese media reports had claimed that Nanxing’s investments, both in Singapore and China, have totaled up to billions of Taiwanese dollars. However, Nanxing also clarified during the interview that though he is unsure of the exact worth of his investments, the amount reported is greatly inflated.

Instead, Nanxing emphasized that health is a greater life concern to him than wealth.

The 51-year-old, who recently has a better physique and is much fitter than before in preparation of his role in A Blessed Life, also said truthfully, “In life, it is most important to have good health, be contented with your life and always stay happy.”

Nanxing’s life philosophy is also closely in line with the character that he plays in the upcoming sitcom. Nanxing’s role Ye Da Ji is a kind-hearted and down-to-earth man who readily helps others and upholds justice but is often cheated due to his generosity and kindness.

Things took an interesting twist when an old man Wang You Guo (played by Zhu Houren) staged an accident where Da Ji supposedly knocked him down and demanded to stay at Da Ji’s home to ‘recuperate’. Da Ji initially feared that You Guo was a scammer, but soon discovered he was a lonely man who was worried that he may pass away alone without anybody realising. The two develops a deep friendship and Da Ji’s kind deeds led him to fulfill his lifelong dream.

In his daily life, Nanxing also readily helps others like Ye Da Ji. He revealed that he would often assist elderly people who need help and patronize handicapped roadside sellers on a regular basis.

“I don’t want to have the feeling of regret lingering in me when I choose not to help them or ignore them,” he said.

However, Nanxing once met with a tough nut to crack when he wanted to be helpful. While filming a show in Chinatown, Nanxing offered his help to an old lady who was picking up used cardboard boxes, as they seemed bulky for her. Unexpectedly, the old lady reprimanded him as she mistook him to be competing with her for the boxes. When Nanxing offered her a $10 note later, she also rejected him quickly.

Not only was Nanxing cool about being scolded, he also expressed that the old lady had earned his respect. “I feel that she is really strong (in her will). Though she may not be wealthy, but she is happy and contented with what she has,” he shared frankly.

Jay Chou and Hannah Quinlivan’s down-to-earth honeymoon

In stark contrast to their grand fairytale wedding, newlyweds Jay Chou and Hannah Quinlivan have been spotted on a “commoners’ honeymoon” in England over the past week.

Photos taken by local fans showed the couple queuing to board public bus, shopping for past-season clothes and dining at regular restaurants, while trying to keep a low profile.

Despite their celebrity status, Jay and Hannah looked like a “normal couple” throughout the trip.

After the pictures circulated online, many fans have praised the lovebirds for being down-to-earth with their non-luxurious itinerary. “Simple bliss is the sweetest,” a netizen wrote.

Ryan Reynolds is very hands on

Ryan Reynolds claims he has tried breastfeeding his daughter.

The 38-year-old actor - whose wife Blake Lively gave birth to their first child, who is believed to be named Violet, last month - joked he is such a hands-on father, he even tried to feed the baby himself.

He quipped: ''I gotta jump in and do all those sorts of things. I mean, I've even tried breastfeeding.

''It's frustrating for the baby and frankly disturbing for me ... not well is the answer.''

The 'Mississippi Grind' star says life at home since his baby was born has been ''great'', but he is feeling the effects of sleepless nights.

He told People: ''It's amazing that you can be that exhausted and that happy at the same time.''

Blake, 27, recently admitted she is happier than she has ever been since she and her spouse had their first child.

She said: ''This is the happiest time in my life, and I could say that every day. I often feel like, 'I can't believe I'm experiencing this.' ''

And while the former 'Gossip Girl' star wants to enjoy their time with the new arrival, she is already thinking ahead to having more children.

She said: ''I do want to just enjoy this moment. But I also feel like my first child is going to be the oldest sibling to the next kid, and that may change with each and every year.

''I'm looking forward to how one baby influences the other, and to my family as a whole, to every single chapter.''

Kendall Jenner to launch movie career?

Kendall Jenner is getting acting lessons.

The 19-year-old model's mother and manager Kris Jenner, is focusing all her efforts on looking after the teenager's career and is reportedly eager for her to carve out a career in Hollywood this year.

A source said: ''Kris told the whole family that in 2015, her priority would no longer be Kim [Kardashian West] - it would be Kendall.

''She thinks Kendall could be the next Audrey Hepburn and is getting her acting lessons.''

But the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star's older half-sister, 34, and her younger sister, Kylie, 17, are furious with Kris for going out of her way to help Kendall succeed.

The insider said: ''Poor Kylie is really struggling with Kendall's success and her own self-esteem, and Kim feels betrayed and abandoned. It was the last thing they needed to hear.''

The duo are both said to be plotting to unveil controversial photo-shoots to prevent Kendall from hogging the spotlight, and Kylie is also eager to release her debut single with her brother-in-law Kanye West.

The source explained to America's Star magazine: ''Kylie is planning a risqué photo-shoot as soon as she turns 18 and is trying to get Kanye to record a song with her. And Kim has some seriously attention-getting antics in the works. She has no intention of playing second fiddle to anyone, least of all her little sister. Things are going to get very interesting.''

Kim previously insisted she wasn't jealous of Kendall, who has modelled for a string of top designers including Chanel and Givenchy.

She said: ''I'm her biggest cheerleader - we talk all the time.''

Is Leehom’s wife pregnant again?

Multi-faceted superstar Leehom was recently speculated to be expecting his second child with wife Lee Jinglei.

The couple had tied the knot in late 2013 and Jinglei gave birth to their first daughter, Wang Jiali, last July. The beginner father also expressed his hope to give birth to “as many kids as a music band” while he was promoting his latest album Your Love earlier this year.

Last week, Leehom graced the premiere of his first Hollywood movie Blackhat in Taipei and revealed that he wishes to catch up with co-star Chris Hemsworth’s stunning record of three children quickly.

The 39-year-old was spotted by reporters yesterday (21 Jan) at a park in Neihu when he shot a new commercial for renowned watch brand SEIKO. Jinglei, bare-faced with black thick frame glasses, was by her husband’s side throughout the filming process though she appeared tired.

The mother-of-one had recovered quickly to her pre-pregnancy figure after giving birth to their daughter, but reporters quickly realised her slightly plump figure and small baby bump despite Jinglei being dressed in a thick brown winter coat.

However, Leehom’s manager clarified yesterday that though the couple are open to having more children, Leehom is currently busy with the launch of his new album and said Jinglei looked pregnant in the photo as she has the habit of slouching.

Blackie Chen dismisses rumours against Pace Wu

Taiwanese artiste Blackie Chen has spoken up in Taiwanese model Pace Wu’s defence against rumours which claimed the latter to be a fair-weather friend to her celebrity friends Dee Hsu and Makiyo.

Pace was recently slammed by netizens for intentionally keeping a distance from Dee and Makiyo, when the two were previously caught in controversial situations. The model was even said to have remained in contact with scandal-free Christine Fan, while trying to get close to Fish and Aya (Liu Hanya) after learning about their blissful marriages.

Frustrated by the rumours, Pace took to Weibo to retaliate against the malicious comments. “The person who started [the rumours] must love to make up stories. The sisterhood between us will never change. To have each other as friends is an incredible blessing!” she said.

In a microblog post yesterday, Blackie uploaded a photo of Dee, Fish, Pace, Barbie Hsu and Jia Yong Jie visiting Christine, who gave birth to a pair of twin baby boys last week, in the hospital.

“From sisterhood to motherhood, this friendship is so precious! Thank God for blessing my sons with so many beautiful godmothers!” he wrote.

Pace later reposted the photo on Weibo and added: “The ward was filled with happiness! Babies who are welcomed by so much love and joy will definitely grow up healthy and well.”

#WaybackWednesday with 90s pop idol Tommy Page

By day he works at Pandora, an internet music radio site, and is known as Tommy Page, Head of Industry Relations; by night he moonlights as an entertainer and is seen as Tommy Page, bona fide pop singer from the 90s (a.k.a. the man and voice behind hit songs like ‘I’ll Be Your Everything’ and ‘Shoulder To Cry On’.)

And it doesn’t stop at that. Tommy is a man of many hats – apart from working full time and doing music gigs around the world, the entertainer, who is set to perform on Feb 7 at Retrolicious 2015 together with All-4-One and Color Me Badd, is also a family man with three growing kids (ages 10, 8 and 6 years old) to raise at home.

How does he do it? When we asked Tommy to let us in on his secret technique for juggling between his multiple roles, over a long-distance phone interview, he chimed in amazement, “I don’t know how the hell too…”

But it appears the real reason, according to Tommy, is this: “I’m using up all my vacation days at Pandora to come perform for you guys!”

No, seriously – the 44-year-old said, in all honesty: “I would tell my colleagues ‘I’m going to be away for a week’ and they’d ask me ‘Where are you going?’ and I’d say: ‘I’m going to Singapore to do a concert!’ (Chuckles)”

After his Retrolicious concert on Saturday, Feb 7, Tommy shared that there’d be the Grammy’s in America on Sunday, Feb 8. “So after my show I’m going back to my hotel, head straight to the airport and fly all the way back to Los Angeles (L.A.), where I’d land on Sunday morning and go to the Grammy’s immediately. I’m going to be really, really tired,” he chuckled.

Colour us impressed.

For someone who wanted to “put the performer side” of him aside after retiring from the pop scene in 1995, choosing to focus on the business side of the music industry instead, Tommy’s return to the stage was quite an unexpected turnaround.

But, he explained, “I got an offer a year and a half ago (to perform in Indonesia) which I actually said no to, but I was encouraged by the musicians such as David Foster to do it. They said they’d put the band together for me and I was stressed out for the next couple of months, worried nobody would show up [at the gig in Indonesia]. But when I got to the airport, and saw the fans and the media, it was like being in a time machine and going back to 20 years of my life.”

"Please tell everyone in Singapore that I'm so excited to come back and meet everyone again."

Read on for more as we talk to the erstwhile idol about all things retro, from the old Tommy Page poster hanging in his basement at home to his take on digitising his older content today, and his decision to keep his kids out of the limelight.

What does retro mean to you?

Retro means connecting with the past, reliving it in a new way. Retrolicious is going to be a night where the fans get to go back to the past and moments in the past they fell in love with, songs that connected with their life and were part of the OST of their lives. When I did my last show in Indonesia, I told stories about why the songs were written and I plan to do it in Singapore too. I plan to tell the fans things they never knew behind these songs and make a stronger connection.

How does it feel to be labelled a retro act?

It’s funny. When I first came out as a singer, I was an artiste that appealed mostly to teenage girls and teenagers. I was sort of – if I may say so – a teen idol and had a young image. As I get older, some people still see me that way – but I’m sure I don’t look like that now. I still have a baby face (I shouldn’t say that about myself) and my hair has started to get a little grey, but I’m happy with being my age, happy that I stayed in music this whole time.

Just wondering, have you converted your CDs to digital?

The answer is no (laughs). I’m worried, I don’t know what to do. I have boxes and boxes of memorabilia in my house and VHS tapes that my dad recorded me on all these shows… I have a fan who offered to digitise them all for me and I gotta take them up on the offer, but I have been too lazy to sort through it. When Casey Kasem died last Spring, I wanted to put something up ‘cos he did so many intros to my songs and there was a long-distance dedication he did– but I just didn’t know how to do everything, so I just sat there listening to all these Top 40 countdown shows, which is a thing I’d do as an old man. I’d sort everything out.

Sure sounds like the perfect thing to do when you’re old.

Yeah. I don’t have much time to go through all these stuff now.  Another interesting thing that I’ve never told anyone before is I don’t have anything on my career on my walls at home – gold records, plaques, posters or magazines? None. If you come to our home and looked around, you’d find not one thing of Tommy Page. It’s all pictures of my children and family. Oh, I do have one Tommy Page poster and it hangs in my basement above my laundry machine and it’s there ‘cos I found it somewhere and taped it up there as a joke.

You know why [I don’t put up such things about myself]? I don’t have to prove anything to myself… And if I have a contractor come down to repair my home or something, I don’t want him to walk up and see all my stuff and then mark up the fees “‘cos this guy’s in the music business” (laughs).

How often do you watch your old clips on YouTube?

I don’t do that often but if I do, I don’t read the comments. Seriously. I go on YouTube and I like it when fans make their own videos – sometimes it’s good or bad – but I’m always flattered that they’re doing it. But I don’t like to read the comments. There are some nice and there are some mean comments, I don’t like to let that get to me. People can hide behind the computer and write nasty things but I don’t want to be part of it.

On the note of retro, what do you have to say about your stage outfits today as compared to the past?

When I was a young kid, I’m glad I got one thing right in my brain. At that time I was a teenager and dying to get a record deal, and when I finally got one in the late ‘80s I went out there with a black suit, slicked back hair and thin ties. I wanted to be classic… What’s cool is that now, 25 years later, I look at some of those photos and I think it’s classic. A classic black suit never goes out of style.

As a dad, do your kids go on the road with you too?

They’re too little to come on the road now, maybe in a year or so. I go on Skype with my kids and they get to see my shows on YouTube.

How much of a music influence do you have over your kids?

My oldest Owen (10 years old), I forced it on him, really (chuckles). But my other two love music. My little son, Alden (8 years old), tells me I’m his favourite singer. I don’t know if he’s being sweet. I have a song on my first album called ‘I Think I’m in Love’ and I sing that to my daughter (6 years old) all the time. It’s her lullaby song and it was a song that I wrote when I was 15 years old. It’s a really simple song.

Would you ever allow your kids to follow in your footsteps?

I won’t let any of them be singers. I’m not a stage parent. When they’re 18, it’s their decision if they wanna go join show business. In fact, if a Hollywood director knocked on my door today and asked if he can cast my kids in a movie, I won’t let them. I want them to have a regular life if I can. And I admire MJ (Michael Jackson) for one thing: people thought it was crazy when he covered his kids faces, but I never knew how his kids looked like until he died and had all that media exposure. It’s no problem if you wanna get in the public eye or pursue a career in showbiz, but that should be a decision they make as an adult.

Catch Tommy Page, All-4-One and Color Me Badd at Retrolicious™ 2015 on Feb 7 (Sat), 8pm at the Fort Canning Park (rain or shine event). Tickets priced at $125 are available for sale at all SISTIC counters.

Jennifer Aniston reveals she has dyslexia

A trip to the optometrist’s office changed Jennifer Aniston's life.

It was while getting a new pair of glasses in her early 20s that the “Cake” star finally learned she had dyslexia, the actress revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“The only reason I knew [that I had it] was because I went to get a prescription for glasses,” she told the magazine.

“I had to wear these Buddy Holly glasses. One had a blue lens and one had a red lens. And I had to read a paragraph, and they gave me a quiz, gave me 10 questions based on what I’d just read, and I think I got three right. Then they put a computer on my eyes, showing where my eyes went when I read. My eyes would jump four words and go back two words, and I also had a little bit of a lazy eye, like a crossed eye, which they always have to correct in photos.”

Hannah Quinlivan expected to become more domesticated

After experiencing a fairytale wedding on Jan 17, Hannah Quinlivan is expected to become a dutiful wife to Jay Chou when the couple returns to Taiwan.

To protect his son’s privacy, Jay Chou’s beloved mother, Ye Hui Mei has never hired a domestic helper and has always been dedicated in completing all the chores on her own. With her new role as Mrs. Chou, Hannah is likely to take over the duties at home.

Sources revealed that the newlyweds will continue staying with Jay’s mother after getting married. In order to take care of her husband in all aspects, Hannah will also allegedly cut down on her showbiz work load.

In related news, the total cost of the luxurious wedding reportedly amounted to NT$23 million (approximately S$970,000), including the wedding gown and jewellery accessories which are reportedly worth NT$3 million (S$130,000) and NT$60 million (S$2.5 million) respectively.

On top of footing the bill for the wedding, the air tickets and accommodation of the guests were also said to be fully borne by Jay.

Jennifer Aniston is doing her best to have children

Jennifer Aniston wants to have children with Justin Theroux.

The 45-year-old actress admits she and 'The Leftovers' star, who she got engaged to in August 2012, are ''doing our best'' to start a family.

Asked if they are eager to have a baby, the 'Cake' star told The Hollywood Reporter: ''Listen, that's a topic that's so exhausted. I get nervous around that, just because it's very personal. Who knows if it's going to happen? It's been a want. We're doing our best.''

The actress recently admitted she has always felt a lot of pressure to start a family and hit back at suggestions she was too ''career-driven'' to have a baby.

She said: ''I don't like [the pressure] that people put on me, on women - that you've failed yourself as a female because you haven't procreated. I don't think it's fair.

''You may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesn't mean you aren't mothering - dogs, friends, friends' children.

''This continually is said about me: that I was so career-driven and focused on myself; that I don't want to be a mother, and how selfish that is.''

Jennifer previously had an estranged relationship with her own mother, Nancy Dow, and now admits she was very critical of her growing up.

She said: ''She was critical. She was very critical of me. Because she was a model, she was gorgeous, stunning. I wasn't. I never was. I honestly still don't think of myself in that sort of light, which is fine.

''She was also very unforgiving. She would hold grudges that I just found so petty.''

Justin Bieber buys food for strangers

Justin Bieber has been buying meals for strangers.

The 'Boyfriend' hitmaker - who has previously caused controversy with his wild parties, egging of a neighbour's house and arrests for driving offenses - has reportedly undergone a ''radical change'' in recent months and has been showing his ''polite, respectful and extremely generous'' side.

According to insiders, this included him randomly buying the food of diners behind him in a line at a restaurant and treating two men to their dinner at Los Angeles eatery Mozza on Sunday (18.01.15) because they moved to the bar area so he and his pals could have a table at the fully-booked establishment.

One source told TMZ: ''The person I knew is back.''

It was recently revealed Justin's 21st birthday will be marked by a Comedy Central Roast and the 'Beauty and a Beat' hitmaker reportedly sees the show - which will see a number of famous faces poke fun at him and his antics - as a form of ''therapy''.

The Canadian superstar is said to think the show will mark the end of a chapter in his life where he messed up and he will be able to take the ribbing and move on as a ''real adult''.

The 'All That Matters' hitmaker recently joked he has ''worked hard'' on providing enough material for the TV special.

He tweeted: ''For years I have wanted Comedy Central to roast me. They said only if I provided them w/ more material so for a year now I have worked hard ... Finally after all that hard work for my 21st bday it's happening. Thanks @RyanSeacrest & @ComedyCentral for the announcement. Let's do it :) ... Lol. #BieberRoast (sic)''

Justin reaches the milestone age on March 1 and the Comedy Central roast will be filmed on March 7 airing later in the month.

A-Mei may have a flash marriage with her 4-year boyfriend

A-Mei was recently rumoured to be ready for marriage with her boyfriend of four years, Sam, after the two had made an appearance at their café’s third anniversary party.

The couple began their relationship four years ago and kept a low-profile. However, Sam expressed his love for the singing diva by posting a photo of his tattoo of A-Mei’s name on his left arm last July, seemingly hinting that the two are ready to take their relationship a step further.

Speculations of A-Mei’s intention to get married after her concert world tour this year also surrounded her after she revealed that she was open to the idea of a flash marriage. However, the couple may choose to keep their marriage a secret as A-Mei is protective of her private life.

At the anniversary party of the café they have jointly invested in, blonde-haired A-Mei played the role of a host for the party, initiating selfies and photos with her fans and customers and engaging them in games and drinks.

Sam, on the other hand, was reserved and sat quietly at a corner. He seemed happy to observe his joyful girlfriend at a distance. The couple also made eye contact with each other from time to time.

It was not until 10:30p.m. that night when A-Mei left the café with her face flushed from drinking.

When asked by reporters if Sam had proposed to her and when she had planned to marry, A-Mei smiled and acted like she did not hear the question before she boarded her car.

Christine Fan gives birth to twin baby boys

Taiwanese celebrity couple Blackie Chen and Christine Fan welcomed their twin baby boys “Big and Small Panda” yesterday (Jan 15), one month before their due date.

According to media reports, Christine was sent to the labour ward following the premature rupture of membranes holding the amniotic fluid. The 38-year-old singer gave birth to the babies via cesarean section.

Blackie broke the good news with a Weibo post in the evening. He posted a photo of the newborns and wrote: “Mummy and babies are well. The boys quietly arrived in the beautiful world today! Thank God for blessing us with these two adorable darlings.”

As the babies were delivered prematurely, they are currently being placed in the incubator for observation purposes.

After recovering from the procedure, Christine, who had enjoyed a dinner gathering with her girlfriends Fish Leong and Pace Wu on the night before, also shared her joy via social media.  “Big and Small Panda are here! So happy! Thank God for blessing us with a lovely family of four,” she said.

On the other hand, Christine’s good friend, Taiwanese host Dee Hsu mistook the babies for someone else’s children when Blackie sent the picture to her. Dee was pleasantly surprised to find out that the boys in the photo are actually her godsons and extended a warm welcome to the little ones.

Meanwhile, Barbie Hsu could barely hide her excitement. “I am so happy that I can fly!” she exclaimed.

In 2011, Blackie and Christine sealed their decade-long relationship in marriage. Their efforts in conceiving a child finally came to fruition last year when the couple announced in August that they were expecting a pair of twins. Although the first-time parents knew of the babies’ gender a long time ago, they decided to keep it a secret until the boys were born.
