Stars Line Up For A Cause With Project Awareness

After the joined distribution done with Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) and Gardenia a fortnight ago, Singapore self start-up volunteer group Project Awareness is back to French Road/King's George Avenue for the second part of their distribution event, this time with something more. It was suppose to be an anonymous affair, but it's hard to not take notice what looks like just any other distribution event organized by Project Awareness, was graced unannounced by various famous online personalities and celebrities.

Singapore Singer-Songwriter Elson Soh, who is also the Founder of Project Awareness, was joined by local actress Kanny Theng, Founder and Owner of Holly Hoque Sheila Mandy, famous food blogger Brad Lau AKA Lady Iron Chef and other popular bloggers and personalities like Melody Yap and local filmmaker and director Ang Geck Geck. Together with more than 20 volunteers who had signed up for this event with Project Awareness, they went from block to block, distributing 200 sets of goody bags filled with Ready To Eat rations to the low income and elderly families of Lavender.

When interviewed, Elson Soh said that he was "shocked and happy at the same time to see them turn up for the event" and that he was "glad more people have come on board Project Awareness to do their part for the Singapore society and spread the spirit of volunteerism".

Elson also revealed that the volunteers not only committed their time to this event, but also contributed to the food items. "The chicken from Kee Song were sponsored by my volunteers. Sheila and her friend Liz bought the 100 packets of biscuits and Chef Pang contributed the 100 loaves of bread and 100 sets of instant noodles."

We later found out that Chef Pang is the owner of Sugar Daddy Group Pte Ltd, the company behind renowned restaurants Antoinette and PiqueNique. The excited singer-songwriter then added, "I am so happy when Chef Pang called and told me he wanted to contribute to this event. I have always visited his restaurant and I didn't expect to receive a call from the man himself. It's a pity he could not join us in person for the event today because he told me he had stayed up to bake the breads till 7am in the morning specially for us!"
