What caused Xu Bin and Carrie Wong to quarrel on set?

It was a teary affair at MediaCorp’s Studio 6 on Wednesday, as the cast members of Channel 8 popular long-form drama 118 bade farewell to the set that they have come to call home.

Carrie, who didn’t think that she would cry, could not hold back her tears when she saw her male co-stars Chew Chor Meng and Xu Bin breaking down. However, the optimistic starlet believes that even though the set is no more, the feelings between the strongly bonded cast members will not change.

Stepping into the near-empty studio that morning, Carrie still vividly remembered where all the furniture were placed. “One year has passed in the blink of an eye. Words cannot express my love for 118. Being able to meet this bunch of people is the biggest blessing to me. All the little things that happened during this past year will stay with me forever,” she shared.

When asked on the co-star that she would miss the most, Carrie earnestly said that the relationship between everyone is really close-knitted. “When we weren’t filming, we would hang out for drinks and dinner. Unknowingly, this group of people has become my best friends,” explained the actress.

But if she had to pick one of them, it would be Taiwanese actor Charles Lee, who will return to his hometown in September. “I don’t know what I should do. How am I going to say goodbye?” Carrie cried.

According to the budding thespian, Charles had planned to leave quietly on his own which infuriated Carrie. “I told him that if he dares to fly off without saying a word, I will immediately book a ticket to Taiwan to beat him up!”

Not only is Carrie planning to send him off at the airport, the 21-year-old promises to keep in touch with her newfound buddy. In fact, the actress has already applied for leave from the new long-form series Life – Fear Not production team to visit Charles in Taiwan this December.

As for her most memorable scene in 118, Carrie recalled the one time that she got into a conflict with Xu Bin on set. In her own words, Xu Bin was unable to “get the right emotions” which in turn affected her performance. “I was angry and we quarreled for a bit. The team had to halt filming because of us, so that scene actually didn’t turn out very well,” she let on.

However, Carrie texted Xu Bin on the same night to let him know what her issue was. In response, the actor shared his thoughts and the two resolved their differences the next day. “We are so close that we can openly talk things through without hiding anything. Even when we give our honest opinions, it wouldn’t affect our relationship. This is very precious,” reiterated Carrie.

Xu Bin: This is the first time I don’t feel any pressure

After shooting most of his scenes outdoors, Xu Bin felt “tightness in his chest” when he returned to a barren studio.

“Realising that the house is gone, I feel like I couldn’t breathe. I kept telling myself not to cry, but when I saw Ah Pa (Chor Meng) and Ah Ma (Pan Lingling) bawling, the tears just couldn’t stop flowing,” he sighed.

From the first day that he entered showbiz, Xu Bin has always thought that it is tough to be an artiste. Besides having to work hard in different areas, the 26-year-old also had to bear with a lot of stress. It was only until he started filming 118 that he did not face any pressure for once. Like all the other cast members, the actor is crossing fingers for a second season of 118.

Justin Bieber stopped for speeding

The 'What Do You Mean?' singer was caught going over the 25 mile-per-hour speed limit in Beverly Hills, California, and was promptly stopped by police officers, TMZ reports.

Justin got away with a $750 fine for careless driving and an absolute discharge on the assault charge.

Vivian Hsu clueless about her newborn's nails

Despite blitzing through 15 baby books while pregnant, Vivian Hsu has no idea how to trim her newborn’s fingernails, and turned to the Internet for help.

On Tuesday, she posted on Facebook: “Luckily I read 15 baby books while I was pregnant, so I know the basics.” she wrote. “Otherwise I’d be so flustered and frantic after giving birth.”

But the books she had crammed didn’t show her how to trim the baby’s fingernails, Taiwan media reports. Accompanying a photo of her baby’s hand was Vivian’s plea for help from other mothers: “Your long fingers and nails look so much like mummy’s, but about baby fingernails, when can they be trimmed? They’re so tiny and soft….”

One fan’s suggestion was to trim them only after a month and let the baby wear mitts in the meantime to protect his skin. “That makes sense!” Vivian replied.

Vivian, 40, is still in confinement in Singapore, having had her son, Dalton, on August 13 by c-section. The baby was born before his 33rd week, weighing only 2 kg. In recent days she has made jokes about living like a cow and sow, and mentioned losing 6 kg in the 10 days after childbirth.

Jolin Tsai shares recent travel photos from Japan

Taiwanese pop star Jolin Tsai shared pictures of her recent trip to Japan after netizens commented pointedly last Thursday that she had spent Qixi Festival (aka Chinese Valentine’s Day) there with her boyfriend, model and actor Vivian Dawson.

One photo posted on Facebook showed her kabe-donning (or wall-pinning) a giant stuffed bear. “Seeing folks lined up neatly makes me want to go up and strike an ending pose,” she wrote. Many fans commented that they wished they were that bear, and that Jolin was taking her job too seriously, wanting to pose everywhere she goes.

Another picture showed Jolin’s back view, but was shot from an angle so high that it was likely the work of the 1.89 m tall Vivian, giving Jolin’s fans an idea of her towering beau’s perspective of their 30 cm height difference.

Taiwan media reports that Jolin took a long vacation after winning three major Golden Melody Awards in June.

Jolin and Vivian met while filming the music video for Jolin’s 2010 hit "Love Player" and have been dating for more than five years.

Miley Cyrus: VMA performance was tame

Miley Cyrus "can't believe" her infamous 2013 Video Music Awards performance was a "big deal".

The 22-year-old star, who will host the 2015 edition of the MTV awards this weekend, has reflected on her controversial performance with Robin Thicke, admitting she had no idea it would generate as much outrage as it did.

Speaking to the New York Times newspaper, she said: "When you look at it now, it looks like I'm playing hopscotch. Compared to what I do now, it looks like nothing. I can't believe that was a big deal. It wasn't shocking at all."

Miley hit the headlines for gyrating against 'Blurred Lines' hitmaker Robin and touching herself suggestively with a foam finger.

She recalled: "I was in the studio with Kanye [West later] that night, and we watched it back and we didn't say anything. We woke up the next day, and he was like, 'Whoa'. He called and said, 'Turn on your TV.' "

Miley also hit back at Robin's previous suggestions that he wasn't aware she would gyrate against him prior to the performance.

She said: "He acted like he didn't know that was going to happen. You were in rehearsals! You knew exactly what was going to happen.

"And he was actually the one that approved my outfit, so I thought that was very funny. He wanted me as naked as possible, because that's how his video was."

Ex-SNSD member Jessica Jung: It’s easier being independent

The last time Jessica Jung was in Singapore, she was still a part of K-pop super group Girls’ Generation (SNSD).

Who would’ve thought that less than two years later, the 26-year-old would be back in town not just as a former member of the massively popular nonet (now an octet, of course), but also as a former SM Entertainment artiste. Earlier this month, she and the company, which also houses other Hallyu heavyweights like Super Junior and EXO, amicably parted ways after ending her contract.

However, her popularity remains as high as ever, despite the fact that she has traded her idol status for the role of creative director of fashion label Blanc & Eclare. Proof of the unwavering support for her was apparent during the brand’s launch at Marina Bay Sands’ Salon by Surrender last night: 120 fans willingly spent at least $350 on her pieces in order to score an invitation to her autograph session, and many more showed up just to get a glimpse of the starlet from outside the store.

Jessica is also revelling in her newfound independence, as she declared to local and regional media during a brief press conference prior to the meet-and-greet.

“I can make my own decisions and it’s easier to communicate and work things out; I have a great team of staff around me,” the California native gushed in fluent English. And the downside of flying solo? “I don’t know about the cons (of being independent), I haven’t seen any lately.”

The fact that she’s involved in something she enjoys makes things even better. “Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved fashion and wanted to do something related to fashion,” she said. “I launched this denim line because I wanted to share my sense of style with the world (which is) less is more – I don’t like to overdo things and I like to keep things classic.”

She went on to share that she gets inspiration from her worldwide travels, which is especially apparent in her collection of eyewear. “They’re inspired by the cities that I love and been to: for example, Paris is an elegant cat-eye, while Shanghai is round,” she explained. “There isn’t one for Singapore yet but it’s coming soon! (laughs) We’re working on new designs so I hope everybody is looking forward to it.”

Jessica also looks to somewhere – or rather, someone – much closer to home: her mother. “She’s very classy and elegant and I’ve always wanted to be like her when I grew up.”

Mama Jung isn’t the only fashion muse in her life – her younger sister, f(x)’s Krystal, plays a huge part too. When we asked if a collaboration with her equally beloved sibling is in the pipeline, Jessica’s face lit up as she revealed that she often turns to Krystal for tips and ideas on what she should create next.

“I’d ask her what kind of jeans and T-shirts she likes, and she’ll tell me, ‘Oh, I want to wear something like this’, so we communicate a lot to produce new designs,” she said. “Maybe some time in the future there will be Blanc & Eclare x Krystal!”

We’re sure their followers are praying for that day to come soon.

No Song Seung Heon proposal for Liu Yifei yet

Korean heartthrob Song Seung Heon made a low-key appearance at girlfriend Liu Yifei’s 28th birthday party, and set the Internet ablaze with rumours of a proposal, which the actress has denied on Weibo.

“Thank you for your well wishes,” she wrote. “I don’t wish to say much, except that the wise don’t spread rumours. Goodnight! I’m very happy.”

According to Chinese media, Seung Heon stayed close by at the Hayao Miyazaki animation-themed celebration on Tuesday, wearing a suit and sitting in a far corner.

His presence was noticed only when fans on Weibo posted photos taken with Yifei at the event, and netizens pointed out the shadowy figure of Seung Heon in the distant background. This sparked rumours that a proposal had already taken place, and many fans congratulated Yifei on Weibo, leading to her clarification.

The pair met on the set of Chinese–Korean movie The Third Way of Love in 2014, and Seung Heon’s agency confirmed the relationship this month.

Big Bang′s G-Dragon and Kiko Mizuhara Go Their Separate Ways

Big Bang′s G-Dragon and his rumored Japanese model girlfriend Kiko Mizuhara have gone their separate ways.

A rep from YG Entertainment stated through a phone conversation with a reporter on August 27, "On our part, we have nothing to say. We never said that they were seeing each other. We don′t know about their dating or break up." However, a source from G-Dragon′s inner circle said, "It′s true they′re not seeing each other anymore."G-Dragon and Kiko Mizuhara were involved in romance rumors since 2010. The rumors broke out again recently when they were photographed on a date near Itaewon. However, on all such occasions, YG has refuted the rumors, stating, "Kiko and G-Dragon have always been close friends. The talk about them dating is groundless."

However, their relationship was an open secret in the entertainment world. It appears the two stars, who began dating in 2010, decided to go their separate ways due to their respective busy schedules recently. G-Dragon has less time to meet due to Big Bang′s activities, leading to the break up.

Caitlyn Jenner hides her Olympic gold medal

Caitlyn Jenner keeps her Olympic gold medal in her make-up drawer.

The 65-year-old star, who was known as Bruce Jenner before undergoing gender transition in May, won the men's decathlon at the 1976 Summer Olympics and considers the accolade her "most prized possession."

The 'I Am Cait' star said: "My gold medal is my most prized possession - I'm so proud of it."

But Caitlyn refuses to display the medal at home because she doesn't want her children, including teenage daughters Kendall, 19, and Kylie Jenner, 18, to feel under pressure to achieve a similar level of success.

Speaking on her new weekly series of WhoSay editorials called 'The Real Me' that shine a light on the issues and people in the LGBT [Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender] community, she explained: "I never wanted my kids to feel like they had to have a gold medal in order to be considered a success. I didn't want them to constantly compare their own achievements to my time in the Olympics, so I haven't displayed my medal. Here's where it currently lives in my make-up drawer."

Caitlyn also says she is experiencing an "even greater time" in her life since becoming an advocate for the transgender community.

She said: "I'm very proud of it [the medal]. That was a great time in my life, but to be honest with you, it's even a greater time in my life right now with what I'm trying to accomplish with this."

987FM’s Sonia Chew faces her worst fears on travel show

Picture this: you’re going about with your usual business when someone barges in and hands you an envelope. You read the contents of said envelope to find out that you are to be whisked away to five different locations.

Sounds like a dream come true for the wanderlust-stricken, doesn’t it? Well, there’s a plot twist: you have no idea what you’re going to do at each country, only that they will not be your typical touristy kind of things like shopping and eating.

All that is precisely what happened to Sonia Chew for Toggle Originals series Travel SSBD (Same Same but Different), which launches today. In the five-episode programme, which is far from your ordinary travel show, the 987FM DJ embarked on “the most adventurous thing” she’s ever done, as she explained to us in an interview last week.

“I go there but I don’t know what I’m going to do,” she said, adding that she was only told the five cities she’d be visiting and what to pack to wear there. In each place, she has to complete a series of missions, after which she’ll be given clues to her next one.

And, as we mentioned earlier, these unconventional activities will not be common tourist tasks. “The reason it’s called Same Same but Different is because we go to common locations for travelling, but we expand our horizons and try new things.”

Despite the unsettling nature of such a mysterious “blind” journey, Sonia told us that she enjoyed just going with the flow and not having to worry about what to say or doing research. “It’s all really on the fly, and what you see is seriously what you get,” she said. “Everything I say is the one and only take.”

The first place Sonia landed in was Tokyo, Japan. “I’ve already been there a number of times so at first I thought, ‘Aiyah, what else is new?’ but I really did things I had never done before.”

One such thing was visiting a dojo to learn how to be a real ninja, which included lessons in throwing shuriken, or ninja stars. “They were real, sharp weapons! The crew was so scared they were hiding everywhere,” she recalled with a chuckle. “Apparently I was super good at it but you’ll have to watch it for yourself.”

However, it wasn’t all fun and games on the trip for the 2012 987 Radio Star champ. During her expedition to Chiang Mai, Thailand, the self-proclaimed city girl and insectophobe found herself at the mercy of five enormous spiders in an outhouse in the middle of the jungle.

“The spiders were about the size of my hand and they were plastered all over the walls and the toilet was really dirty,” she recalled with a shudder. “It was so bad I kept backing out because I couldn’t go! But in the end I sucked it up and went in, did my thing, and made my quick escape. That was horrifying.” (We can only imagine.)

Unfortunately, that wasn’t her only encounter with creepy-crawlies in the region: while river rafting, she came face-to-face with water roaches (“My worst fear!”) and was so terrified that she nearly capsized the bamboo raft she was on; and another time, she found herself surrounded by gigantic cicadas, both dead and alive. “I think the crew has heard enough of my screams. (laughs)”

Another scary activity Sonia engaged in were jumping off a 10m-high cliff in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. “I don’t really have a fear of heights but free-falling is quite terrifying!” she admitted.

Despite her “ordeals”, Sonia managed to return to Singapore unscathed (save for a tiny scratch on her leg). In fact, it was when she had returned to the Little Red Dot that she lost her phone and fell sick – two things she tried to avoid during her month-long voyage.

“It’s so ironic! Maybe it’s because I became more relaxed about things after coming home – I should be sent away more often,” she laughed, before making a public plea to anyone who finds her lost phone: “It has a Travel SSBD logo sticker on it, so if anyone spots it, it’s mine!”

Song Seung Heon is head over heels for Liu Yifei

After admitting to his relationship with Chinese actress Liu Yifei earlier this month, Korean heartthrob Song Seung Heon has been openly displaying affection for his girlfriend.

In a recent interview with the Chinese media, Seung Heon said that he felt very lucky to be able to work with Yifei for his first Chinese film The Third Way of Love, as he has always been a fan of hers.

“[The Third Way of Love] is a romance movie. If there is an opportunity, I still want to collaborate with Yifei. We can shoot action films or other genres. It’s okay if we don’t act as lovers. We can even play rivals. Working with Yifei, to me, was a very beautiful and precious memory,” the actor shared.

In addition, Seung Heon revealed his wish to get married after attending the wedding of his senior Bae Yong Joon and singer-turned-actress Park Soo Jin. The 38-year-old also mentioned in a previous interview that he “does not rule out the possibility of a flash marriage”.

Although Seung Heon is 11 years older than Yifei, the actor let on that his girlfriend is more mature than him in many ways. “She always takes care of the people around her. Her positive traits moved my heart. We really like each other now, and I hope this wonderful feeling will continue all the way,” he said with a smile.

Heartbreak begets music for Gayle Nerva

Don’t let the powerful beats and slick groove of "Pretend" fool you into thinking it’s an upbeat tune — Gayle Nerva’s latest single is a breakup song, through and through. It’s always easier to write a sad song than a happy one, she said.

The self-penned tune was inspired by a soured romance. “Most of us have been there, a relationship has ended and you see that person move on and you’re not happy about it,” she said. “You’re upset that person is moving on before you.”

Two years later, Gayle has moved on to bigger things: From singing at the CELEBRATE SG50 countdown concert to lending her voice to the 28th SEA Games official music album, Gayle will now be holding her own concert, “An Intimate Evening with Gayle Nerva,” at the Esplanade on September 5 as part of the Singapore Street Festival.

Though she’s a seasoned performer — she debuted in 2006 on the second cycle of Singapore Idol — the 26-year-old admits to being nervous about helming her own concert and sharing mostly original material during the 12-song, 75-minute show. Her songs are intensely personal, she reveals, “almost like diary entries.”

At the same time, Gayle is strengthening her credentials as an actress. On Channel 5’s Tanglin she plays Suzanne, a sass mouth, blunt, sarcastic, and the comedic relief in the show, according to Gayle, who enjoys that kind of role because it’s light-hearted and portrays a side of her that people seldom see. And though she considers her character similar to a younger version of herself, Gayle sees herself as more free-spirited than the HDB-obsessed Suzanne. “I’d like to go overseas, maybe study musical theatre or just go away for three months and take a bartending job or live on a farm,” she said.

Being one of two Eurasian actors on Tanglin — and without the backing of an onscreen family — Gayle hopes her character will be developed further as the show progresses. “Hopefully in the next 100-odd episodes you’ll find out why she is the way she is, who her family is and that there’s more to her story,” she said.

“It’d be nice to introduce a Eurasian family,” she added. “I think the writers have something in mind, but you never know what they’re going to write — we get the scripts a week in advance.”

The relationship among the Tanglin cast is close, and Gayle talks about how the team often make off-camera jokes and wisecracks to sustain them through 12- or 13-hour shoots. “Did you know James [Seah, who plays her boyfriend, Chris] is secretly a Malay boy trapped in a Chinese body?” she said. “We’re always singing silly things on set … and then James will go, ‘Eh why you liddat lehhhh!’”

Asked if she’s open to exploring acting opportunities on Channel 8, Gayle admits her language skills are a little wanting. Though she’s open to it if roles came along, “Mandarin is so difficult,” she said. “Maybe I can play Filipino maids. Then I’ll have an excuse [for my poor Mandarin].”

Reflecting on her artistic journey since her Idol days, Gayle shares how she used to try to emulate certain musicians because she thought that was what people wanted to hear; now the singer is far more comfortable in her own skin. “I’ve found my own sound and I’m happy with it,” she said. “Before, I was kind of afraid. … I guess we’re all pretending in a certain way.”

Eva Mendes is engaged to Ryan Gosling?

Eva Mendes has sparked rumours she's engaged to Ryan Gosling.

The 41-year-old actress, who has 10-month-old daughter Esmeralda with the 'Drive' star, 34, has fuelled speculation they are planning to get married after showing off a new emerald ring on Instagram.

The brunette beauty has appeared in several photographs wearing the statement piece of jewellery since July 25, and also wore it to an Estee Lauder event in Miami, Florida on Tuesday (25.08.15).

While it is currently on her right ring finger, she could wearing it on the wrong hand in order to fool her fans, according to the MailOnline.

The couple, who started dating in 2011 after meeting on the set of 'The Place Beyond the Pines,' have yet to comment on their relationship status.

But Eva previously admitted she thinks marriage is "very unsexy."

The 'Hitch' star said: "I'm not like anti-marriage or the institution, like for other people. And I love the idea of a union -- that's all very beautiful. But I think, you know, it's a very old fashioned, archaic kind of thing. We did it for land originally. How unromantic is that?

"I actually think it's really sexy to be with someone in your fifties and sixties and be like, 'That's my boyfriend. I think husband and wife is just... very unsexy.

"If you love someone and you have a spiritual union, I just personally don't think [I need] a piece of paper because society tells me [is necessary]."

Joshua Tan reveals his past relationship with a single mother

In Channel 5’s upcoming drama series Lion Moms, Joshua Tan takes on a role that’s completely unlike anything he’s done before: a doctor who finds himself vying for the affections of a single mom, played by fellow FLY Entertainment artiste Vanessa Vanderstraaten. As a result, he gets caught up in a love triangle involving her neighbour Peng Koo, played by local swimming champ Russell Ong in his acting debut.

Interestingly, this is a case of art imitating life: the Ah Boys to Men hunk revealed at yesterday’s press conference and interview that he has actually dated a single mom here in Singapore before. Although things didn’t work out, the experience helped the 25-year-old understand his part in Lion Moms a bit more and learn about the struggles they face.

“A single mom has more responsibilities and things to deal with, and when you date her, you also have to consider her child,” he said. “It’s really not easy so I respect single moms a lot and I’m quite passionate about their cause.”

Unfortunately, he admitted that trying to bond with his former squeeze’s daughter was “awkward”. “She recognised me from my previous work and instead of the normal dynamics between a kid and (her mother’s) boyfriend, it was more of her liking my character in Ah Boys to Men, which is not the way I would have liked it to be.”

Although he previously stated that he used to want to get married at 23, the 25-year-old has changed his tune, telling us that he is not quite ready to settle down yet and will only think of having children "five to 10 years" down the road. Instead, he is setting his sights on purchasing his own place, a condominium, here.

“It’s a long journey to buy a house in Singapore,” he said with a chuckle. “Because if you want to get a HDB you have to be married, which I’m not ready for yet, so I can only buy private, and it’s not easy.”

The bachelor said that he has his sights set on a particular property “quite near the central region”, and that he’s “close” to his goal but not there yet.

It’s not the end of love stories for Joshua on the screen. In his next project, a Chinese feature film, he stars in the second of four short stories about love. He’s also booked for an upcoming English movie that’s slated to be shot overseas.

Cheryl Yang embraces close male friend in front of beau

Taiwanese actress and model Cheryl Yang appeared tipsy after four hours of drinking and partying at a local restaurant in Taipei on Saturday night, and even embraced a male friend in full view of her photographer boyfriend of two years, Ke Chao Zhang.

Taiwan media reports Cheryl, Chao Zhang and actor Tuan Chun-hao were on their way to a karaoke bar when Cheryl met and hugged a male friend wearing white.

After Cheryl’s friend left, actress Yvonne Yao joined the group for karaoke as she couldn’t attend the dinner session. Despite Cheryl’s seemingly inebriated state, she displayed astonishing endurance after hours of revelry, rushing to the counter to book a karaoke room while leaning on Yvonne.

Cheryl’s manager made a statement yesterday that Cheryl had made dinner plans with her boyfriend, Chun-hao and Yvonne, but they didn’t drink wine. The manager added, “Cheryl was thrilled to meet up with her friends, perhaps she was a bit loud and gave the impression she was drunk.”

Her manager also clarified that the man wearing white was a close friend of Cheryl’s, so she was surprised to meet him and hugged him on the spot.

According to reports, Cheryl, 37, started seeing Chao Zhang after they met on the set of The Queen.

CJ Entertainment announced on August 25 that Jo Jeong Seok and D.O have been cast in film Hyung.Jo Jeong Seok and D.O will be pairing up for the first time through Hyung. Jo Jeong Seok said, "I think the greed of all actors is to want to be a part of a good project. That′s why I chose this project without hesitation, and I think the most charming aspect is the human story that everyone can resonate with. I′m already looking forward to it. I will greet you with a good image, so I ask for your interest."

D.O said, "It′s a role I′ve never played before, so I have a lot of greed to want to do well. After reading the scenario in one sitting, I couldn′t sleep because I was shaking, looking forward to it and excited. I won′t forget that feeling and be immersed in acting."

Johnny Depp's daughter isn't '100 percent straight'

Johnny Depp's daughter Lily-Rose Depp reportedly doesn't completely identify as "100 percent straight."

The 16-year-old actress, whose mother is French singer Vanessa Paradis, decided to take part in a new photo-shoot for photographer iO Tillett Wright's Self Evident Truths Project, which is attempting to capture the images of "10,000 people in the USA that identify as ANYTHING OTHER than 100 percent straight," because she "falls somewhere on the vast spectrum."

The activist shared a photograph of the teenager on Instagram, with the caption: "I'm so proud of my baby girl @lilyrose_depp. She decided she wanted to be in @selfevidentproject because she falls somewhere on the vast spectrum, and I couldn't be happier to welcome her to the family. She's a tiny gem of a good human. #prouduncle #weareyou."

Lily-Rose and her parents have not yet commented on her involvement in the LGBT [Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender] campaign, which model Cara Delevingne, 23, also previously posed for.

A source close to teenager recently claimed she has been turning to her mother for career advice because she thinks Johnny is "way too protective."

The insider said: "Vanessa is more encouraging of her wild, artistic side, and she already has a major studio in love with Lily. "

The starlet, who was born in Paris, recently completed shooting 'Yoga Hosers' alongside her father, and recently signed on to appear in the upcoming film 'Planetarium'.

It was also announced she will star in comedy 'Moose Jaws' next year.

Mario Ho’s mum refutes his marriage rumours with By2’s Yumi

By2’s Yumi and billionaire heir Mario Ho were recently spotted walking down the streets of Beijing while holding hands. The on-off couple was allegedly looking for a marital home, sparking rumours of a flash marriage.

On Tuesday, Yumi published an ambiguous post which fuelled the speculations. She wrote: “The brightest smile hides the deepest secret.”

According to media reports, Yumi, who came from a poor family background, left school at 16 to pursue a showbiz career with her twin sister Miko. On the other hand, Mario is the son of Hong Kong business magnate Stanley Ho and is currently studying at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Having won awards at international Mathematics quizzes previously, the 20-year-old is also known as a “Math genius”.

Due to Yumi and Mario’s hugely different backgrounds, many people did not believe that the relationship would last. When asked on her son’s wedding plans, Mario’s mother Angela Leong was quick to shoot down the rumours. “He did go to Beijing a few days ago. He hasn’t even completed his studies. Do you think he will get married? Don’t frighten me,” she said.

Khloé Kardashian wants Lamar Odom 'to go away'

Khloé Kardashian wants Lamar Odom "to go away."

The 30-year-old beauty, who is waiting for a judge to finalise her divorce from the former NBA star, reportedly believes he is "trying to ruin her new happiness" with boyfriend James Harden.

A source close to the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star told E! News: "Khloé just doesn't communicate with him and wants it to go away.

"The divorce was really hard on her and she finally let go and it took her two years. He's trying to ruin her new happiness and trying to make her feel guilty."

The former couple split in December 2013 after four years of marriage amid allegations Lamar, 35, was addicted to cocaine and cheating with multiple other women, and while they recently signed their divorce papers, Lamar claims they are still in regular contact and Khloé is his "soulmate."

The basketball player was accused of ambushing his estranged wife and shouting abuse at her outside her gym in Beverly Hills last week, but he told the new issue of InTouch magazine: "A misunderstanding between me and my wife became public. It's hurtful. That woman is my wife. Without the ring on my finger. [Even] with her picture being taken with another man, that woman is my wife.

"She's [my] soulmate. I can't control it. We'll never part. I would never consider myself serious with another woman. To sum it up, if a man is attempting to court Khloé, he's probably wasting his time."

A source previously claimed the reality TV star's family has urged her to secure a restraining order against the athlete.

That one time Elvin Ng turned into a K-drama ‘fangirl’

“I finally understand why people are so into Korean dramas,” quipped Elvin Ng, “I think its plus points are the men are handsome – even if they are less expressive (chuckles) and the girls are cute and a little silly. Their love stories and chemistry are well-developed too.”

The actor was compelled to watch his first and only Korean drama, You Who Came From The Stars, to prepare for his role in Channel 8 drama Sealed With A Kiss (SWAK). And he eventually got “hooked” and was even “fangirl-ing” the characters - a surprising confession we never thought we’d hear from the actor, who despite his sentimental and sensitive front, is not a fan of such dramas.

Playing Zhu Jian Nan, a homebody who avoids human contact because his bad luck would rub off on anyone within a 3-metre radius, Elvin shared that his character is a recluse and K-drama fan who enjoys imagining himself in the shoes of the male leads (like Do Min Joon from aforementioned K-drama).

“That is he relies on his fantasies, especially after he meets his goddess (Du Jun Ning played by Rebecca Lim) because he has no chance to fall in love or date because of his bad luck,” he chuckled, in an interview with Toggle at the drama’s press conference on Tuesday.

These fantasies are based on parodies of a few iconic scenes in You Who Came From The Stars and both Elvin and Becks were even outfitted to resemble the characters (Professor Do Min Joon and Cheon Song Yi) – from his wig to their fashionable ‘winter’ wardrobes.

One such scene required our male lead to stop a moving vehicle from crashing into the love of his life with his superpowers while dramatically saving said damsel with a grand dash. Sounds romantic, but not when you have to twirl non-stop for about 12 times (he’s referring to Becks) and be decked out in winter coats while filming on the streets of hot and humid Singapore, said Elvin.

“Coincidentally Rebecca got bitten by a mosquito and her eyelid was a bit swollen too. But I still had to pull her in and pretend I’m about to plant a kiss on her lips. It was really more comedic than anything else.

“And I was actually hoping we’d get to film the scene where I stop time and everyone around me freezes!” the fangirl in him let on.

While no expense was spared in looking the part of Do Min Joon, Elvin shared that he filmed the drama for one month without a trace of makeup on his face – “no powder, no concealor, nothing,” he quipped, which is something he has never done before. Part of the reason he decided to film with a bare mien was to live up to his character’s unkempt appearance, another reason was based on the feedback he got from the drama’s writer and producer who told him that he’s too vain and image conscious, at one of their first meetings for the show.

However, his decision to go bare-faced backfired when the production team realised how “shiny” his facial features appeared on the monitor when they were filming. “The director told me ‘it won’t work out’. At first I thought it was because I had bad skin,” he laughed, “But it was really because of the T-zone area.”

Contrary to his character who is a walking magnet for bad luck in the drama, Elvin’s had a “pretty smooth-sailing life” so far. However, if there’s one aspect of it he absolutely has no luck in – it would be in the money department, said Elvin. “I really have no luck in that area!”

“If I were to gamble, 12 out of 10 times I’d be on the losing end. You should always bet the opposite of what I placed my bets on and you are bound to win,” he chuckled.

No thanks to his lack of luck, the actor shared that he’d never fail to be the banker when he plays card games with his little cousins during Chinese New Year. “I see it as a form of repaying society and they’d all be happy.

“I may not have much luck with money,” he mused, “But I think I’m very blessed in other aspects of my life.”

Jerry Yan’s inferiority complex ruined relationship with Lin Chi-ling

At the press conference of new Chinese drama My Best Ex-Boyfriend, Taiwanese actor Jerry Yan revealed that growing up in a single-parent family and his poor background resulted in his inferiority complex. The 38-year-old also admitted that he is not good at expressing his love for other people (including his mother) which hindered the progress of his romance with Taiwanese supermodel Lin Chi-ling back then.

“I couldn’t even say ‘I miss you’ to my girlfriend,” he let on.

A man who chooses actions over words, Jerry is willing to ride the motorbike in the rain just to buy his lover’s favourite food. However, he later realised that showing concern and giving the other party happiness are most important in a relationship.

While speaking to reporters, Jerry said that he would inject parts of his real life experience when he is acting. There was a scene in My Best Ex-Boyfriend, where his role was unable to stay by his girlfriend’s side when she got into an accident, which caused the actor to break down in tears on set.

When asked if he was reminded of the episode where Chi-ling fell off a horse in 2005, Jerry simply smiled without replying. To shun media’s attention at the time, Jerry reportedly got a friend to visit the model-actress on his behalf, instead of going to the hospital in person. “Even though we have broken up, there were many good memories. We are not the type to burn bridges,” he emphasised.

And if he were to find “the right person” now, he would go public with the relationship.

Courtney Cox in 'no rush' to get married

Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid are in "no rush" to get married.

The couple got engaged last June and the only thing making them consider tying the knot sooner rather than later is pressure from 11-year-old Coco, the 'Cougar Town' star's daughter from her marriage to David Arquette.

She said: "Johnny and I are still in the planning stages, although Coco seems to want to be wedding planner and has taken over.

"We're in no rush but we'd like to do it some time soon... more for Coco who can't wait to be a bridesmaid!"

Courteney recently revealed Coco will be singing at the wedding.

She said: "Oh, for sure [I want her to sing]. It's going to be a whole musical.

"We don't have any plans at the moment. We don't have any firm decisions yet. But it's fun thinking about it and figuring out what to do and when to do it. I'm having fun with that."

Coco also took on a very special role at her father David's recent wedding to Christina McLarty.

The 51-year-old actress and director told Closer magazine: "She's loving this wedding stuff. She's a really good singer. I don't know where she got it from.

"She sang 'I Will Always Love You' at David's wedding. That's a hard song!"

Natalie Imbruglia recording 'alternative' album

Natalie Imbruglia has "started recording a new album".

The 40-year-old singer is currently promoting an album of covers titled 'Male', her first record in five years, but since getting back into the studio for the LP she had thrown herself back into original music and is already hard at work on her next album.

She said: "I've started recording a new album already. It's frustrating because I almost want to split myself in two; I'm promoting a new album but I'm also really keen on getting on with the next one. I feel a bit annoyed that I've broken that flow. The sessions have been so great that I don't want to lose what we're doing."

Natalie's last release was 2009's 'Come To Life', but she suggested her next record will have a much more "alternative" sound, drawing inspiration from Kate Bush and indie folk band Daughter.

She explained to the Official Charts website: "I guess this new album is a good segue between my older stuff and the future stuff. I've tried to identify what is it that I like in the music I listen to, which is much more alternative than what I put out. I try and communicate that to the songwriters and we've created a sound bed to work off, rather than writing songs with a guitar and tried to produce them later, which can be tricky.

"I'm inspired by acts like Daughter and Kate Bush. So far there are lots of electronic beats to it, but it's still very emotional and storytelling. It might well change, but that's where we are at the moment. We're just playing and it's a lot of fun. I'm excited!"

Xu Bin & Aloysius Pang: from dukes to social media kings

What do American pop princess Taylor Swift, South Korean pop princes EXO, and Singapore’s very own dukes Xu Bin and Aloysius Pang have in common?

They are three out of just 35 artistes in the world to have an official account on mobile messaging and social media app LINE. Today (August 18) marks the official launch of the MediaCorp and Noon Talk Media artistes’ pages, which means fans can now follow them and be notified immediately of updates from the boys, which are posted in a chatroom-like setting.

“Xu Bin and Aloysius are popular artistes that have a huge reach and affinity that are well-aligned with that of LINE users in Singapore,” said Simeon Cho, General Manager of Business Development at LINE Plus Corporation.

Both lads currently have sizeable follower counts across their official social media sites, with over 50,000 on Facebook, 30,000 on Twitter, and 150,000 on Instagram.

Followers can also look forward to interacting directly with the boys during “on-air” live chatting sessions, which will be arranged from time to time by Noon Talk. Meet-and-greet sessions and other exciting events are in the pipeline as well.

Aloysius' LINE sticker set.

Another exciting goodie in the package are LINE’s iconic “stickers”, large and quirky upgrades of the classic emoticon that depict a range of reactions. Xu Bin’s and Aloysius’ sets include expressions such as “OMG!!”, “HUH!?!” and the much more localised “SWEE!!”.

“The photoshoot (for the stickers) was pretty adorable,” said Aloysius. “We were given examples of stickers from other artistes and had to do something similar by expressing emotions based on the text we had. We sent in around 12 to 16 different pictures and LINE picked out the ones they wanted.”

His personal favourite submission is one of him scolding, “Why are you late ah?” but unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to have made the cut. (Here is where the “BO JIO!!” sticker, which did get included, comes in handy.)

LINE users can find Xu Bin’s and Aloysius’ official accounts via their IDs (@AloyPang and @XuBin).

How do you feel about being chosen to have your own official LINE accounts, and why do you think you were picked?
Aloysius: I was surprised when I found out! Compared to (the other artistes that have official accounts), I don’t think I’m anything, so I’m very thankful for the opportunity. I have no idea why I was chosen, and it’s not something I want to think about because I just want to be happy for the chance. (laughs)
Xu Bin: It’s a huge honour. I’ve not been told any specific reason why I was chosen, but I guess it’s possible because I’m very active on social media.

How will you be compensated for this project?
Aloysius: To be honest, remunerations are a sensitive topic so whenever I get a job, I rarely talk about it with my boss (Dasmond Koh) because I trust he will fight for the best for me. So, I have no idea, and I don’t think I will ask.
Xu Bin: I’ll wait for my boss to let me know.
(When we reached out to LINE’s representatives, they stressed that their agreement is “strictly confidential”.)

How often will you update your official account?
Aloysius: For my other social media platforms, I try to update them at least once every two days (or three days if I’m too busy), so I’m hoping to do the same for LINE. Sometimes we’ll have people from Noon Talk posting on our behalf as well, but I think our LINE accounts will be more personal compared to our other sites.
Xu Bin: I don’t think I’ll have a problem posting regularly. If someone else helps to update, there will be a difference in the style of posting.

On a scale of one to 10, how addicted to social media would you say you are?
Aloysius: Frankly, I’m not really addicted at all. In fact, if I weren’t an artiste I wouldn’t even be on social media, but maybe I’ve gotten affected so I’m now at a four or five? Just average.
Xu Bin: For a non-celebrity it would be seven or eight, but as an artiste, I’d give myself a five or six. I say this because a regular person doesn’t really need to manage an account that much, but I need to be more careful about what I post.

How often do you check social media?
Aloysius: I try to do it when I have spare time. I don’t touch my phone during work.
Xu Bin: It depends on how free I am. If I’m on set, I do it less.

Are you the kind of person who can’t live without their smartphone?
Aloysius: Oh wow, I can go without it for days! Once I was away and forgot to charge my phone so I was without it for a couple of days and it didn’t affect me that much. (laughs) To be honest, I’m a technology idiot and I’m old fashioned: I don’t play games, all I do is Google for information I need, and I’d rather call my friends than text them.
Xu Bin: I am leh! If I’m filming and have to wait around between takes, I’ll be playing with my phone or checking my social media. Once I lost my phone and I felt so restless, I got a new one as soon as I could.

Do you read and reply to fans’ comments?
Aloysius: I do read comments, but I only respond during the “live” Twitter chats I hold on special occasions like my birthday or Christmas.
Xu Bin: Sometimes I skim through but I can’t finish reading all of them, and I don’t reply because if I reply to one person, I’ll have to reply all of them!

Are you affected by negative comments from haters?
Aloysius: Not at all. If someone says I’m ugly, I can’t do anything about it. But if people criticise my acting, I’ll gladly accept it as advice.
Xu Bin: I only pay attention to encouragement and suggestions on how I can improve on my dramas.

What are some particularly memorable comments you remember?
Aloysius: Some fans comment pretty sweet things and because I’m a sucker for words, I love reading them. I love it when I open my Twitter and I receive a motivational quote from someone who doesn’t know me, but just wanted to make my day. It’s pretty nice!
Xu Bin: (Is silent for a while) I can’t think of any. [Ed’s note: Fans, time to make a (good) impression!]

Taiwanese magician Lu Chen is a dad

Taiwanese magician Lu Chen and his Chinese model wife Wang Xiyi welcomed an addition to their family on Sunday. According to media reports, Xiyi gave birth to a healthy baby boy in a Beijing hospital. Lu Chen’s manager has also confirmed the good news and thanked everyone for their concern.

In May, Lu Chen posted a photo from their wedding photoshoot to announce his marriage with Xiyi, who is 10 years his junior. At the time, the 39-year-old revealed in an interview that his wife was three months pregnant.

“On one hand, I feel that I need to account for my actions as a public figure. On the other hand, I’m worried about misreports, so it’d be better for me to ‘surrender’ first,” he said.

Throughout the course of her pregnancy, Lu Chen was spotted accompanying Xiyi to prenatal check-ups on several occasions. The magician also stopped his work activities to prepare for childbirth with his wife. After their son was born, Lu Chen has been happily entertaining the couple’s relatives and friends who visited them at the hospital.

E'Dena Hines had no drama in relationship

Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter spoke "positively" of boyfriend Lamar Davenport, who has been charged with her murder.

Friends of E'Dena Hines, who was stabbed to death outside her New York City home in the early hours of Sunday morning (16.08.15), are shocked that her partner could be capable of such violence and say they had a happy relationship.

Pal Tami Dunn told PEOPLE.com: "There was nothing in her relationship with Lamar that indicated this type of trouble.

"At least, she didn't tell her friends about it. He was quiet and not the most social person I had ever met, but he didn't have any dark energy."

Davenport was charged with second-degree murder on Monday (17.08.15) after being taken into custody at the scene of the crime.

Tami added: "He seemed to love her, and she talked about him positively, whenever she talked about him. That's why it's such a shock."

Meanwhile, neighbour George Hudacko says he was awoken by the sounds of "grunting and moaning" and noticed E'Dena lying on the floor outside.

Hudacko says he heard "screaming and the name 'Lamar'."

He added: "I heard that same man saying, 'In the name of Jesus Lord God, Demons, I command you.' Or something like that. He thought he was doing an exorcism."

Oscar winner Freeman, 78, paid tribute to his 33-year-old step-granddaughter in a statement on Sunday.

He said: "The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer," he said. "Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person.

"Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace."

Cecilia Cheung’s son hospitalised for high fever

Hong Kong artiste Eugina Lau, wife of singer Peter Cheung, posted a photo of Cecilia Cheung’s younger son Quintus Tse on Saturday. The picture, which showed Quintus wearing a hospital gown, gained widespread attention from netizens.

Sources claimed that Quintus was hospitalised for high fever caused by bacterial infection. Although his temperature has gone down, he remained in the hospital for observation.

In a phone interview, Eugina said that as her children are good friends with Quintus, they drew a card to wish the five-year-old a speedy recovery. The former TVB actress added that Cecilia has had to cope with looking after Quintus in the hospital and fetching her older son Lucas to and from school.

When asked if Nicholas Tse and Patrick Tse had visited Quintus, Eugina shared that she has only gone to the hospital once. While the 47-year-old did not meet the pair, she ran into Cecilia’s mother before leaving the ward that day.
