Chinese actress Yang Mi and Hong Kong actor Hawick Lau’s daughter,
nicknamed “Xiao Nuo Mi” (or Little Glutinous Rice), turned two on
Wednesday (June 1), with a surprise visit and cake from her parents.
Yang Mi, who’s currently filming in Beijing, China for her latest movie, the sequel to 2014’s Brotherhood of Blades, was spotted at Hong Kong’s airport on Wednesday, with Hawick.
However,
the couple was reported to be in low spirits and appeared distant with
each other, with no signs of their wedding bands on their ring fingers.
When
the media approached the couple for an interview, Hawick immediately
shielded Yang Mi from the reporters, and began to walk briskly. The duo
did not stop for any interviews, and left after a simple “thank you”.
Later
that day, Yang Mi posted a picture of Xiao Nuo Mi’s birthday cake on
Weibo, and captioned it : “Nuo Mi Tuanzi (or Glutinous Rice Dumpling)
happy birthday, happy international children’s day [as well]!”, along
with a number of heart emoticons. Hawick also posted a picture of the
family-of-three’s hands cutting Xiao Nuo Mi’s birthday cake, revealing a
rare glimpse into their daily lives.
After the celebrations
however, Hawick sent Yang Mi off to the airport immediately, though they
did seem to be in better spirits, and were seen laughing and chatting.
Later,
Yang Mi’s manager revealed that the actress had to leave almost
immediately, as she was in the middle of filming for her movie.
“The production crew only gave her one day off, so she needed to rush back for filming.”
Yang Mi and Hawick married on January 8 two years ago, and gave birth to their daughter on June 1 in the same year.
