Andrea Bocelli to star in biopic

Andrea Bocelli has filmed a cameo in a biopic about himself.

The 58-year-old singer has shot scenes of him performing Puccini's 'Nessun dorma' onstage at Cinecitta Studios in Rome for the forthcoming film 'The Music of Silence', which is based on his memoirs of the same name, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

But Andrea will only appear in a small part of the motion picture as Toby Sebastian has signed up to portray his alter-ego, Amos Bardi, with Antonio Banderas set to star as his maestro.

Luisa Ranieri and Jordi Molla will play his mother and father respectively.

The biopic will tell the story of Bocelli's life growing up in Italy when he went blind aged 12, and the struggles he encountered to read music in Braille and other issues he faced in law school and at talent shows.

The film will also recall the moment he was discovered by Luciano Pavarotti when he heard him perform Allegri's 'Miserere'.

He has gone on to sell more than 80 million albums worldwide and had seven records in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart.

Some of Bocelli's previously unreleased songs from his youth will also be heard in the biopic.

Andrea Iervolino, Monika Bacardi and Roberto Sessa are producing the movie.
