Tony Sun: 5566 only has a business relationship

5566 had a long-awaited reunion last month at the Golden Bell Awards, where the five members walked down the red carpet together. After which, the group sans Rio Peng performed on stage and had fans optimistic that an album was on the way after leader Tony Sun promised an impressive comeback in the near future.

Following which, it was confirmed that Tony, Zax Wang and Jason Hsu would host a reality programme, The Hunger Games, together. Sam Wang was reported to be unable to join because of prior commitments.

It was later revealed that Sam had previously signed on to host another variety programme, 3 Kingdoms, and was unable to juggle filming schedules with The Hunger Games. He also shared that the group does not get along well on a personal level.

In response, 5566’s former manager, Sun De Rong, expressed that Sam earned a tidy sum while with the group back when they were at the peak of their popularity and disapprovingly mentioned that Sam’s comments were “unnecessary”. He continued that he approved of Sam’s request to join another idol group, 183 Club as he wanted to be the most popular after playing second fiddle to the other 5566 members.

Tony attended the 2016 Taipei IN Style event over the weekend and was questioned about the relationship between the 5566 members, to which he admitted that they “aren’t the best of friends on a personal level but have a good relationship when it comes to work”.

The leader continued that the members have great chemistry when it comes to their work and named the Golden Bell Award performance as an example. He chuckled that after spending all their time together in the day, they would never eat dinner as a team because “that’s just revolting”.
