She sells seafood by the seashore: Felicia Chin

Felicia Chin’s on the fast track of building her F&B (food and beverage) empire: just six months after opening The Mama Shop café with fellow actress Sora Ma, she’s now the towkay neo of a newly opened seafood eatery located at Satay By the Bay, Wholly Crab.

The pun-intended name, which she came up with, has a variety of meanings to it. “It can mean a whole crab or wholeness, like full of love, full of everything but not myself,” she chuckled wryly.

The eatery which functions with a “seafood boil bag” concept (i.e. you get a big bag – or bucket, in this case – of seafood like crabs, prawns and mussels, pour it on the table and eat it with your bare hands) comes with a local twist in its sauce offerings. There are dipping sauces like marmite and creamy cheese, which are Felicia’s favourites, and other variations like salted egg and kung pao too, with promises of monthly specials, such as mee rubus, down the road.

The chirpy actress guarantees a fuss-free no-frills seafood-eating experience at Wholly Crab. “It’s a family-oriented place and yet prices are kept lower than outside. It’s a very casual setting and you just want to use your hands, dig in and just enjoy being laid back,” Felicia quipped. This lady boss will also be waiting on tables in the time being too – before her new drama project begins in August – to mingle and take in feedback from diners to improve the business.
