Singaporean socialite Arissa Cheo, 33, has left a subtle is-it-or-isn’t-it hint on her Facebook page at her rocky two-year marriage to Taiwanese-American singer and actor Vanness Wu, 37.
On Sunday, Arissa reposted a philosophical Facebook note by Paulo Coelho, writer of The Alchemist, on “Closing 2015,” with advice including, “One always has to know when a stage comes to an end,” “Things pass, and the best we can do is to let them really go away,” and “Stop being who you were, and change into who you are.”
Though widely shared on social media around New Year’s Day, Coelho’s note getting reposted by Arissa gave it a unique colour. The socialite also concluded her repost with, “Should end it,” which led fans to wonder whether she was hinting that she would terminate her marriage. An October Facebook status update of hers read, “I believe in God, I DON'T believe in man.”
When asked for a comment, Vanness’s manager said, “We don’t ask about the what goes on between husband and wife, and she may not have been alluding to her marriage. Vanness has been in China since December filming the period drama The Princess Weiyoung and will conclude his work on the show in March.”
The actor’s manager firmly denied Vanness and Arissa were getting a divorce.
The couple married in 2013 but have been plagued by rumours that their marriage was in trouble since 2014.
