EXODUS pre-order numbers exceed 500,000

Hallyu group EXO’s latest album, EXODUS, has seen pre-order numbers exceeding 500,000 copies. In numbers released earlier today (Apr 1), it was revealed that the Korean versions of their album have hit 321,200 in orders, whereas the Chinese versions have been pre-purchased 181,240 times.

Industry watchers have begun speculating on the album’s eventual sales figures, with some expecting it to exceed the coveted million-copy mark. EXO’s first full-length album, XOXO, together with its repackaged version Growl, exceeded one million copies in sales when all versions’ sales numbers were totaled.

Back then, the number of pre-orders for XOXO was a little over 300,000 – a number that has been nearly doubled by EXODUS. XOXO and its repackaged version went on to become the best-selling K-Pop album of the year in 2013.

Their label, S.M. Entertainment, previously confirmed that there would be a total of 20 versions of EXODUS – 10 each for the Korean and Chinese versions respectively, which some have suggested is part of the reason for their staggering number of pre-orders.

EXO previously displayed their popularity during their second solo concert tour, EXO PLANET #2 The EXO'luXion in Seoul, when it was extended to a five-day affair last month.

EXO is expected to have their first music show performance on Mnet’s M! Countdown on April 2.
