Will Sean Lau and Nick Cheung join Charmaine Sheh in the ‘Line Walker’ movie?

Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh’s outstanding performance in highly rated series Line Walker won her the “Best Actress” title at TVB Anniversary Awards ceremony last year. Thanks to the drama’s massive popularity, plans for a movie version are in the works and the original cast, including Charmaine and Raymond Lam, will be featured in the new film.

In addition, acclaimed actors Sean Lau and Nick Cheung have allegedly been invited to join the cast. Insiders also revealed that the team will travel to the Golden Crescent region in the Middle East for filming, which is targeted to commence in the middle of the year.

Charmaine reportedly accepted the job without asking about the appearance fees as she is aiming to score her first “Best Actress” trophy at the film awards ceremonies with Line Walker.

At the celebratory party of Triumph in the Skies last night, Charmaine said that she will resume filming for Hong Kong movie Return of the Cuckoo next month. When asked about the rumours regarding Line Walker, the actress hinted that she has reserved a slot in her schedule for a “new project”.

Lawrence Ng drowns his sorrows in gambling

After his divorce with Chinese actress Shi Yang Zi last October, actor Lawrence Ng returned to Hong Kong for work and regained high popularity. However, the 50-year-old reportedly suffered low morale due to his second failed marriage and was recently spotted gambling at different locations on three consecutive days.

Lawrence was seen at the casino in Wynn Macau Hotel earlier this year. After winning a huge amount of money, the actor changed to a table that accepted bigger bets. However, he soon ran out of luck and lost all the chips that he had accumulated. Frustrated by his loss, Lawrence even threw his cards in anger.

When other gamblers snapped pictures of him, Lawrence was not bothered by their actions and continued gambling until 4am in the morning.

On the following day, Lawrence went back to Hong Kong and headed straight to a seafood restaurant, where he played mahjong in a function room. The actor left the place at midnight and attended an event on the next day, before making his way to another mahjong room.

Sources revealed that Lawrence was born in a family of gamblers, and that the actor and his elder brother started gambling at a young age.

According to media reports, Lawrence and Yang Zi will be fighting for the custody of their six-year-old daughter Xi Er, who has yet to adapt to living in Hong Kong as she previously resided with her maternal grandmother in Changchun, China. With his gambling habits making headlines these days, Lawrence is expected to face a tough battle ahead.

Kanye West breaks down during interview

Kanye West was reduced to tears as he recalled the death of his friend the late Louise Wilson during a live radio interview.

The 37-year-old rapper, who is known for his controversial public outbursts, shocked listeners tonight (26.02.15) during a chat with Radio 1's Zane Lowe when he was overcome with emotional as he remembered the legendary fashion professor, who died last year.

Speaking to the radio host, Kanye recalled the advice Louise gave him on raising his 20-month-old daughter North with wife Kim Kardashian West, 34, saying: ''She just looked at me and said: 'Kanye, don't clap.' ''

The 'Bound 2' hitmaker could then be heard breaking down as Zane, 41, asked him if he needed a minute to compose himself.

Kanye, clearly surprised by his emotion, replied just moments later: ''That's never happened to me in an interview before.''

The 'FourFiveSeconds' singer also opened up about how the ''baddest professor of all time'' inspired him.

He said: ''[She was] notorious for not letting people stop at a 7 or 8'' before adding that she would push her students to achieve a 12 and go on to create the likes of Alexander McQueen.

The songwriter attended the memorial service for Louise along with the likes of Victoria Beckham at St Paul's Cathedral in London ahead of London Fashion Week last week.

Professor Wilson passed away in her sleep on May 16, 2014, while visiting her sister in Scotland aged just 52.

Unwilling to feel hungry, f(x)'s Amber does not want to diet

It appears that f(x)’s Amber does not like to be on a diet. On Mnet’s variety show ’4 Things Show’ that was broadcast on February 24, she revealed her weight and how she does not want to feel hungry because of dieting.

“I weigh a sturdy 56 kg. In the past, since I’m a girl group member, I thought it was really bad to weigh over 50kg. But after a while, I accepted myself for who I am and became determined to never starve myself and foster a healthy body through exercise.”

Bobbi Kristina Brown is being taken out of coma

Bobbi Kristina Brown is reportedly being taken out of a medically induced coma.

The 21-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobbi Brown is still ''fighting for her life'' after being found unresponsive in a bathtub at her home in Atlanta on January 31, but doctors have begun to wean her off the medication that has been keeping her in a state of unconsciousness.

Her medical team are believed to have made the decision in an attempt to get a sense of how well her brain is functioning.

The aspiring actress and singer also recently underwent a tracheostomy, prompting speculation she is making progress, but her condition remains ''severe'' and she is still on life support.

The insider told PEOPLE magazine: ''There will be a sign of hope, and then nothing. Every day, we wonder if this will be the day that we get good news.

''We're all hoping and praying that this will give us some answers.''

Meanwhile, the starlet's family refuse to let their feud with her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, who has been banned from seeing her, distract them from focusing on her recovery.

The source said: ''He can say whatever he wants to say.

''We are leaving the investigation in the hands of the authorities. Our focus has always been Bobbi Kristina's health and recovery. That's all that matters to us right now.''

Eva Huang accused of sensationalising news

Following news of Chinese actress Eva Huang’s fainting incident which caused her to miss the Oscars red carpet, netizens have accused the Kung Fu Hustle star of making up stories for publicity.
It was previously reported that Eva was the only Asian female celebrity who was invited to the Oscars this year, and that she was supposed to walk the red carpet with her Bombing of Chongqing co-star Tom Hanks.
However, netizens noticed that Tom and Eva’s names were not in the list of attendees onThe Academy Awards’ official website. “[She must be] bragging and sensationalising news,” a netizen commented.

Lastly, the news about Eva and Tom Hanks gracing the red carpet together was not released by us.”

Zhang Ziyi and Wang Feng rumoured to have married in Las Vegas

Chinese award-winning actress and her fiancé Chinese rock singer Wang Feng were speculated by netizens to have secretly married after photos of the couple’s recent trip to Las Vegas surfaced online.

Wang Feng had previously won the heart of his beau when he proposed to Ziyi with a 9.15 carat diamond ring at her birthday party earlier this month.

While malicious rumours such as disputes between their families had repeatedly surrounded them over the month, Wang Feng and Ziyi’s mood remained unaffected.

Last week, netizens saw the couple touring Las Vegas lovingly over the Lunar New Year break and uploaded photos that they have snapped of them.

Kim Hyun Joong refutes marriage rumours

Korean actor Kim Hyun Joong has refuted reports that he will wed his girlfriend, whom he recently reunited with.

The 28-year-old was embroiled in a scandal last year in which his then-ex-girlfriend, only known as A, accused him of habitual abuse, with the court ultimately deciding to fine him for his misdemeanors.

In a curious turn of events, the two were confirmed to have reunited and reports of his girlfriend’s pregnancy subsequently emerged. Korean news outlet Dispatch stated that the two reconciled and A announced her pregnancy prior to the court ruling in January.

In a statement, his agency KeyEast Entertainment stated that Kim Hyun Joong would take responsibility if A was pregnant. However, they stated that the pregnancy has yet to be confirmed as she has avoided his requests of getting an examination at the hospital and has not been in touch with the actor.

They maintained that marriage is not on the cards and asked for media outlets to refrain from speculative articles until the two reached a mutual understanding on the matter.

Kim Hyun Joong is expected to enlist for his mandatory military duty this year.

Super Junior’s Sungmin deletes Instagram account

Super Junior’s Sungmin deleted his Instagram account a day after its creation after receiving massive backlash from fans.

The singer first posted photos of himself to verify the authenticity of the account but was soon bombarded with negative remarks. It is understood that he had only followed his wife Kim Sa Eun’s account when his account was created.

He first sparked controversy when he was confirmed to be dating his musical co-star in September last year. Marriage rumours then surfaced a month later, which gave rise to strong objections from many of the group’s ardent fans.

The two then tied the knot in a private ceremony on December 13 and went on a honeymoon in the Maldives soon after.

Sungmin, who is currently still on tour with his Super Junior members for their Super Show 6 World Tour, is expected to enlist for his mandatory military duty this year.

His fellow members such as Siwon, Donghae and Heechul have been active on Instagram and have amassed their respective followings with constant updates on their lives and whereabouts.

Pace Wu’s daughter cleared of flu virus

Taiwanese celebrity Pace Wu and her billionaire fiancé Ji Xiaobo threw a luxurious birthday party for her one-year-old daughter Hillary at Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong last weekend. The doting mum even baked a three-layered cake for the event.

However, some guests at the party reportedly passed the flu virus to Hillary, who was already suffering from running nose during the past few days. Fearing that her daughter has contracted the H2N3 virus, Pace quickly brought Hillary to the hospital for check-up.

In a Facebook post, the actress shared that though the whole family has previously gone for flu vaccination, her daughter failed to escape from the disease. Pace also ranted about the costly medical fees in Hong Kong. “Consultation fees alone costs HK$2500 (approximately S$105). Those who love to complain about the health policies in Taiwan, you guys are too discontented!” she wrote.

“Thankfully, Hillary was tested negative for all 18 virus types. We are indeed overly anxious parents. My daughter’s tears and our HK$2500 were wasted, but all’s good!” added Pace.

In response to her post, some netizens also insinuated that Xiaobo is too wealthy to be concerned about the cost of the medical fees.

Elva Hsiao down with gastritis

Taiwanese singer Elva Hsiao was recently down with gastritis after holding a year-end celebratory party for her fashion boutique.

According to Taiwanese media, the 35-year-old had booked a pub in Taipei and threw a lavish party last Sunday night (Feb 15) to thank the staff of her self-established fashion label Carry Me for bringing in more than NT$3 million (approximately S$130, 000) in profit in a short span of over a year since the brand’s establishment.

At 7 p.m. that evening, her crew of 21 staff members streamed into the pub while Elva and her Singaporean heir boyfriend Elroy Cheo arrived at 9 p.m. and swiftly joined in the event. While the pub’s doors and windows were tightly shut, reporters could tell from sounds and cheers from within the venue that the party had a spectacular atmosphere.

A friend of Elva who was present at the party also revealed that Elva’s staffs have mimicked her by dressing up in outfits she had worn while performing at several countdown concerts and other music events.

Elva, surprised and tickled by their creativity, gave out a red packet worth NT$100,000 (approximately S$4300). She was also said to have handsomely rewarded her staff a total of over millions of Taiwanese dollars that night.

At the same time, Elroy stuck close to Elva throughout the night, chatted happily with her friends and also generously offered red packets in the lucky draw for her staff.

At about 11 p.m. that night, Elva left the pub after most of her guests have gone home. While she exited the pub, the 35-year-old was asked about when she would get married with Elroy. Elva, with her cheeks flushed red after a night of drinks, smiled but declined to answer while Elroy shielded her from the media as they made their way to their car.
Shortly after she returned home, Elva went out again for supper. As the singer had eaten cold noodles after consuming alcohol at her party, the media speculated that it had led to her gastritis.
Elva’s manager clarified that she is now feeling better after resting at home and taking her medication the day after the party. He also revealed that the singer was already experiencing discomfort in her stomach for some time and it coupled with her exhaustion from work to induce her gastritis.

Fun desert times with Choi Siwon

Being in the Gobi desert for a stretch of one week or 10 days isn’t exactly what most of us would have in mind as an ideal getaway location, but not for Super Junior member Choi Si Won, who absolutely enjoyed his time spent there last year for the filming of Dragon Blade.
“I really like the desert,” he quipped, during his interview with xinmsn after the movie’s press conference in Singapore, “[There are] no phone calls, you don’t get bothered, the nights are beautiful, so beautiful and so scary…”
As one of the most sought after pop idols today, it’s no wonder the desert was seen a form of escapade for the busy bee. That and the religious epiphany he experienced during one of his car rides back to the hotel at night, after a day of filming.
“[There is] no electricity and [you’ll see] just a road… On the highway in the desert, there is really no light. The only light came from my car,” said Siwon, as he animatedly recounted his pitch-black experience in the desert when he requested for his driver to turn off the car lights and just keep driving.
“And suddenly,” he continued, as if telling a thrilling story adventure, “You cannot see anything at all. And I was like, ‘Oh man. Wow, so we are nothing’ – ‘cos I have a religion right? So I thought I am nothing. If I have no light, there’s no purpose to live. It’s very meaningful for me.”
And to truly add a cherry on top the icing, the fact that Papa Choi had tagged along – for the first time ever – for the shoot made it complete. In fact, both father and son enjoyed the trip to the desert so much they promised to visit Israel or Jerusalem together once a year.
Calling it a “weird father and son” combination, Siwon told us the both of them even prepared walkie-talkies and would communicate with each other via the use of these radio devices from their rooms.
Conducting the interview wholly in English, without any additional help from his translator, he quipped, “It was a really good experience. Good memories… I’m really appreciative to Mr. (Jackie) Chan. My father and Mr. Chan really love each other and they had good time together. (Chuckles)”
With Papa Choi being the newbie on set now, Siwon shared, with a tinge of embarrassment in his voice while reenacting dad’s deep voice, “My dad asked ‘Who’s that big nose guy?’ and I’m like ‘Dad, please. That’s Adrien (Brody)’ and he’d went ‘Oh, really?’”
“[And then he asked] ‘Who’s that old man?’ and thought it was Anthony Hopkins fromHannibal when it was just an extra from the UK,” he laughed.
With three movies and two dramas slated for release this year in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore, the idol has a really busy year ahead of him. Right after completing his promotional work for Dragon Blade, which also enjoyed extraordinary sneak results at the Singapore box office last weekend, he shared that he can’t wait to go back to Seoul and “spend two days with my doggy” before celebrating Lunar New Year (Sollal) at his grandmother’s place.
Luckily for ELF (Super Junior fans) in Singapore, he will be coming back again in less than three months, and this time with his band of brothers from Super Junior for their widely-anticipated Super Show 6 concert.
On working with Adrien Brody
This is my first time working with a Hollywood star and you know, their mother tongue language is in English right? And I’m an Asian, a Korean. So I was very curious about my pronunciation and the acting and asked Adrien ‘How’s my pronunciation? Is it ok? Does it bother you at all in the acting?’ And Adrien said: ‘No worries, you’re from the Han Dynasty. No matter what, it doesn’t matter. You’re not in Rome.’ Ok cool.
On his poster shoot for his character
After shooting the poster, I couldn’t move my facial muscles. So after the shoot was done I was like, ‘Ok cool. Let’s go! (while mimicking the same expression on the poster)’… [I had to do] a lot of expressions and I think we spent 2 to 1.5 hours on that poster shoot.
On the type of roles he’d like to try
I’d like to have a role that’d see a sudden twist in character. It’s not simple, not boring and there’s always a twist. Twists make it fun and interesting.
On his Hollywood plans
I don’t want to go to Hollywood directly… If I do advance [to the Hollywood market], it’d not be done the same way as other actors. I have a lot of interesting views – if I have a good opportunity to work together [with anyone] – [be it a] good role, good director or even a bad guy role but a good character development type of role, I’d be really interested [in it].
On tarnishing his idol image with his villain role in Dragon Blade
I think my fans don’t care. They only care that Siwon is working with Mr. Chan, Adrien Brody and John Cusack. That’s all. And I don’t care either.
On the main difference between working with Andy Lau (in A Battle of Wits) and Jackie Chan
I think they’re not different. They are common in the fact that they are always thinking about the next generation, very passionate and very humble. They are very concentrated in their jobs and very responsible for everything because they care for a lot of people and they care for a lot of stuff. I think they have no difference [between them]. Maybe they just look different, maybe? (Smiles)
Dragon Blade is now showing in all theatres in Singapore. The movie is rated PG13+

Rainie Yang implicitly admits to relationship with Li Ronghao?

Taiwanese singer and actress Rainie Yang is speculated to have implicitly admitted to be in a relationship with Chinese singer Li Ronghao.

Dating rumours stirred between the two earlier this month when Ronghao accidentally uploaded, then quickly deleted, their intimate photo on his Facebook account.

Though Ronghao has denied those claims and Rainie has refused to comment on the issue on separate occasions, the public’s interest on their alleged relationship remains high.

Last Saturday (Feb 14), Rainie was said to have expressed her feelings about being in a relationship with Ronghao as she only chose to sing love songs at a corporate celebratory event she was invited to perform in.

When asked about her current relationship status after her performance, the 32-year-old replied ambiguously, “I am very happy now,” seemingly hinting that she may already be dating.

As Rainie is known to dislike being in an ambiguous relationship for an extended period of time, reporters also asked if she has passed the ‘ambiguous phase’. However, Rainie snapped in reply, “This (question) is too direct!”

With regards to their alleged relationship, the CEO of Ronghao’s music company indirectly admitted that the two have a close relationship as he said frankly, “They get along well and their current relationship remains unclear.”

Rui En, the joy of Life

“You can call her an aunty in a young girl’s body.”

These were the words Rui En had for her character, Shen Chuyi, in upcoming Channel 8 drama, Life is Beautiful, where she plays a kidney patient who is given a second chance at life after undergoing a successful kidney transplant operation.

A tad more health conscious because of circumstances, Chuyi is like a living calorie counter who can be seen rattling off calorie-related figures quite frequently in the drama. Call it “nagging” if you may, it left such a deep impression on Rui En’s co-star Cavin Soh so much that he admitted to becoming more wary about the type of food he consumes these days, at the drama’s press conference on Friday afternoon.

While the lines and numbers were in itself a challenge to remember, nothing was more difficult than having to embrace her role of a nagger, said Rui En. “When I read the script, I thought: ‘She’s so naggy! How is the audience going to take to her? Are they going to be irritated with her?’”

But that’s the beauty of Chuyi too. “She nags at people but that’s how she shows her love – some people are like that – my mum’s like that, a lot of mums are like that,” she chuckled.

Luckily for the 34-year-old, her ears have been given a break from the nagging in real life. “I can’t take the nagging, but thankfully, I’ve grown up. My parents absolutely won’t nag at me now. They wouldn’t dare to do so (laughs).”

Before she dived into her character of a happy-go-lucky kidney patient, Rui En had a mentally and emotionally draining time filming Against The Tide (where she plays Qiu Xueqing, a role which she recently scored a Best Actress and Favourite Female Character nomination for at the upcoming Star Awards 2015. Stepping out of the drama and character’s shadows was “a huge weight off my shoulders,” grinned Rui En in relief.

“I love Against The Tide, and I love Xueqing, but sometimes you love the things that are not easy to do. Coming from that to this was a relief,” she chuckled, “Because – YES! There was no bloody thirstiness, no revenge, no guns; it was just a simple girl nagging at people, a simple girl who gets kidney disease. So yes, it was nice.”

According to co-star Tracy Lee, Rui En was a bubbly person on set when they were filming this drama. Aileen Tan, who plays her onscreen mother in the show, also had a ball of time collaborating with Rui En for the first time. The mother-daughter pairing shared plenty of laughs together which also resulted in a fair bit of physical – but friendly –“hits” between them.

Calling Aileen a very “special woman” who speaks her mind and has “no sensor button” in her speech, Rui En admitted sheepishly, “Anyone who makes me laugh would often get hit by me (guffaws). She’s very comical and when she makes me laugh, I’d hit her in return.”

Erupting into laughter, she added in disbelief, “She told me that if I were to get married next time, she’d want to check my husband’s body because he might have a lot of blue blacks on him -- because I told her (that) I'd only hit the people I like.”

While it was a joy to work on this drama, Life was also an equally sobering experience for the cast, especially the actors who had to portray ill-stricken characters. For Rui En, visiting the NKF dialysis center and speaking to kidney patients as part of her preparation for the role was an eye-opener for the actress in so many ways.

“I talked to this uncle and he’s been doing it for years but he has accepted it. He’s very positive and happy, and I think that acceptance is a huge part of living life. So I was very inspired by it,” she quipped.

And the most enjoyable – and meaningful aspect of working on a projects like Life and C.L.I.F., says Rui En, would be the career reaffirmation she gets from educating the public via her roles. “To me that makes my job mean something – where it’s not just about my vanity, or what award or nomination I’m going to get this year,” she said.

So what would Rui En do if – like her character – she is given a second chance in life? “I’d be less selfish and I’d try my best every day to be a better person.”

Catch Life is Beautiful when it premieres March 5 on weekday nights at 9pm on Channel 8.

Kanye West threw out Kim Kardashian's clothes

Kanye West threw out Kim Kardashian's clothes when they first met.

The 'Only One' hitmaker was so unimpressed with his now-wife's collection of glittery outfits and rhinestone high-heeled shoes that he chucked them away and brought in fashion stylists to help ''update'' her look.

Kim said: ''I was obsessed with glitter, rhinestone heels and the kind of clothes I now laugh at, and he threw them all out. I said, 'Well I'm going to save them for my daughter one day.' And he said, 'Well if it's going to be our daughter, she's never going to wear those!'

''I think he probably thought they were a bit cheesy. I'd never spent time in London or Paris or seen what style was like around the world, so he wanted to bring in stylists from all over the world to just update my look. And they brought in things like snakeskin that I'd never seen before.''

The 37-year-old rapper has been branded ''controlling'' around the 34-year-old television personality but Kim insists his idea to change her wardrobe has made her love fashion ''so much more''.

Speaking to LOVE magazine, she said: ''But to my fans - they saw this new guy come in and clean out my closet and they thought it was a sign of him being controlling.

''But it wasn't that at all. He made me love fashion so much more now because I'm not afraid to wear different things.''

Benedict Cumberbatch's 'funny' wedding song

Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter played a Frank Sinatra song at their wedding.

The 'Imitation Game' star - who tied the knot with his fiancée in Mottistone on the Isle of Wight, England yesterday (14.02.15) - reportedly chose the ''fitting'' song, 'My Funny Valentine', to play at the ceremony, The Sun on Sunday newspaper reports.

The road near St. Peter and St. Paul's Church, in which they wed, was blocked to keep the pair's nuptials as private as possible.

Around 40 guests were seen arriving at the church, some in limousines.

A local said previously: ''The church is not that big... I would say maybe 100 people maximum would fit in there.

''It's a beautiful setting and very old English, very quaint and pretty.''

The happy couple were transported to their nearby reception venue, Mottistone Manor, by car so to avoid the rainy weather.

Earlier in the day, the bridal party were seen arriving at the 12th century church at around 3.20pm with umbrellas to protect them from the gloomy downpour.

The bride and groom first met in 2009 whilst working on 'Burlesque Fairytales' and they are expecting their first child together, which is reportedly due sometime in the summer months.

Bobbi Kristina Brown's family 'stressed'

Bobbi Kristina Brown's family are getting on ''each other's nerves''.

The 21-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston is currently in hospital fighting for her life after she was found face down in her bathtub at the end of last month and her unchanged condition has caused her relatives to come ''under a lot of stress''.

A family member said: ''I think we're all getting on each other's nerves now. Everyone's under a lot of stress. Bobby [Brown; her father] doesn't want any part of the drama; he's there for Krissi, not for us.''

Her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, has not only been banned from visiting Bobbi but the family refuses to even acknowledge him in conversations.

The insider continued: ''We don't talk about him. Bobby doesn't mention him at all, ever.

''We're trying to give positive energy around Krissi, and Nick is not positive energy.''

Bobbi's condition - whilst still remaining serious - has not changed since last week.

The relative added to People magazine: ''There hasn't been a change in the past week.

''Nothing at all. It's not like her kidneys are shutting down or anything. There hasn't been any change.''

Jeanette Aw and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad breakup

Jeanette Aw may be notoriously tight-lipped about her current relationship with a Caucasian man named Marcus, but when it comes to her previous boyfriend, whom she dated in her university days, she seems willing to spill a little bit more – even about the difficult bits.

“It was a painful relationship, but I can talk about it now because it doesn’t bother me anymore,” she shared with us during an interview at the press conference for Let It Go, in which she plays a blogger who teaches her readers how to find happiness again after a breakup. The upcoming Channel U drama is produced by WaWa Pictures and was co-written by Jesseca Liu. “He was actually seeing other girls at the same time, but it didn’t occur to me to confront him (about them) because I was so blindly in love. (laughs)”

She went on to admit that this fling turned her into someone she is not: a girl who was constantly crying in one corner, never dared to speak up and stand up for herself, and who spent less and less time with her friends in favour of her beau. “It’s like those girls you see in TV dramas that make you go ‘Why are you so stupid!’” she said with a chuckle.

Thankfully, Jeanette eventually came to her senses and ended things with the cheating chap, whom she met in her dance group, after a year and a half of being together. However, really letting go of it emotionally was another hurdle.

“It took a long time for me to get over that relationship, I thought I was really in love,” she said. “Filming in Taiwan for a few months gave me some time to heal away from Singapore, but it wasn’t until many years later that I could let myself be in another relationship. It took some time to find myself and to build up my confidence again.”

Today, she is much happier with her mystery man, but she claims that there are no wedding plans at the moment. Instead, she will be busy gearing up for the launch of her second book, which will contain her illustrations, and an art exhibition in May this year. “There are lots of good things happening, but it’s not what you think! (laughs)”

That isn’t the only thing Jeanette has to look forward to in the coming months: in April, she will finally be conferred the All-Time Favourite Artiste award at the 2015 Star Awards with Vivian Lai, after being successfully voted into the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes rankings for a decade. “I’m very happy,” she beamed. “The All-Time Favourite award is actually from my fans, so I treasure it very much.”

However, the cause for celebration is also marred by complaints from devotees who are dissatisfied with her absence from this year’s list of Best Actress nominees, especially given her highly-lauded performance in The Journey: Tumultuous Times. While she declined to divulge her own thoughts on missing out on a nod, she said she was thankful for her fans’ care and encouragement, and wished only for them to just enjoy her dramas from now on.

Elvin Ng is the “very sentimental, irritating, romantic sort”

A self-proclaimed “warrior” when it comes to love, Elvin admitted that he is the kind of person who will fight until his very last breath before throwing in the towel on a relationship. “Whatever you may have seen (a character do to try and salvage a relationship) in a Channel 8 drama, I might have done it – except jump from a building,” he chortled. “I’m the very sentimental, irritating, romantic sort. (laughs)”

In fact, Elvin is so sentimental, he doesn’t even throw away items belonging to his ex-partners, unlike what his co-star and onscreen love interest Jeanette confessed to doing, saying that they hold "good memories" for him.

When asked to recount the worst of his three breakups, Elvin admitted – albeit with an air of half-jest – that as an “emotional wreck”, all of them were “the worst thing that have ever happened” to him. That said, the most recent one, which happened over two years ago, stands out because he spent time abroad to write his book Our Epic Little Lives afterwards.

“I remember walking the streets of London alone and feeling emo,” he recounted. “Then at Christmas, a message came, and when I got back to Singapore, we got back together for another week or so before realising that it wasn’t going to work out.” Oh well, at least he tried again, right?

Cavin Soh’s son: a makeup aficionado at heart?

If anyone still doesn’t believe there can be joy after a split, just ask Cavin Soh. Although none of his past breakups were “happy” per se, they did lead him to wed wife Serena Yeo, which then led to the births of his two children Kayden and Bethany, who are turning 4 and 2 respectively this year.

“Before I go to work, my daughter will waddle up to me to say goodbye and ask for a hug and cuddles,” said the proud papa, mimicking his toddler’s adorable actions. “So I see my ‘post-breakup happiness’ in her.”

In Let It Go, the amicable multi-hyphenate takes a hilarious turn as an effeminate (but straight) makeup artist, complete with kohl-rimmed eyes, false eyelashes and sassy hand gestures. According to him, it took up to an hour to beautify him every time – longer than female leads Jeanette and Mindee Ong.

A year before he took on his guyliner-wearing character, Cavin had another brush with cosmetics in a department store with little curious Kayden, but that incident left him quite concerned. “He pointed to the eyeshadows and lipsticks and said, ‘Papa, I like!’ and I thought to myself, ‘Oh my god’,” recalled Cavin. “I asked him why he liked them and he said he didn’t know, so I’m honestly a bit worried right now. (laughs)”
