Since her runner-up win at the 2007 Miss Hong Kong Pageant, Grace Wong (王君馨) has participated in a variety of entertainment activities for TVB, ranging from acting, to singing, to hosting. She even dabbed into business, and this year, she invested a six-figure sum to open up an online store.
The 30-year-old Come With Me <性在有情> star recently released her own line of aroma jewelry, which she named Dearest Grace. The brand includes a variety of different necklaces, earrings, and bracelets that are inspired by her closest friends—Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣), Leanne Li (李亞男), Christine Kuo (苟芸慧), and Eliza Sam (岑麗香).
Grace, who studied business management in college, worked closely with accessory designer Bell for her Dearest Grace brand. They used copper as a base for their jewelry, and designed it in a way where various aromas can find inside a small pendant. Grace said they only worked on Dearest Grace for a month before publishing the series online. “We earned back all our investments and more after one month of release!” said Grace happily.
Dearest Grace’s Princess, Angel, Goddess, Queen, and Warrior lines are inspired by Grace’s close friends “Amazing Esther”, which consists of Linda, Leanne, Christine, and Eliza. Grace said, “They are my inspiration! Eliza represents Princess because she is sweet and cute. Christine is Queen, as she really gives you that impression of royalty and sophistication. Leanne really takes care of you, so she’s definitely Angel. Linda is very pretty so she is Goddess. As for myself, I am Warrior. I was never a goddess or a BB. I am a fighter.”
Asking if she would like to start another line for her boyfriend, Grace laughed and said her boyfriend is laid-back and does not like to wear too many accessories. How about opening a new business with her boyfriend, who is a business economics major? Grace said, “I don’t want to talk about work or business at home, that’s why I didn’t include in him my first few business transactions. If we get married some day, family would definitely come first for us.”
The first few business weren’t easy for Grace. She shared, “I chose to do accessories because I assumed the costs would be cheaper, but that wasn’t the case at all. There was a case where a customer developed skin allergies after wearing my accessories, so I immediately reimbursed them. It’s a good thing I’m getting good reviews from the public!” She added that starting an online store has certain benefits, such as being able to attract customers from all over the world. She revealed that many of her customers come from Malaysia, China, Singapore, and the United States.
Grace plans to organize a Pop Up Store to further promote her products. Her goal is to sell affordable accessories to the general public, saying, “I don’t have a goal in how much I want to sell. I just want people to feel happy, beautiful, and comfortable.”
