YG Entertainment′s Yang Hyun Suk producer has stated that the
agency′s first girl group in 7 years, BLACKPINK, will have "no leader."
BLACKPINK held their debut showcase on August 8 and met with reporters.
After the release of BLACKPINK′s music videos, Yang Hyun Suk producer
appeared on stage to answer questions with the members.During this time,
Yang Hyun Suk was asked about who the leader was and the producer
replied, "There is no leader." He stated, "It is impossible to select a
leader because the 4 members have been friends for so long. All 4
members could become the leader."
Yang Hyun Suk was then asked about how BLACKPINK differs from the
agency′s girl group 2NE1, and he answered, "I wasn′t intentional in
trying to create a difference. I just tried to create a good group in
the style of YG."
Yang Hyun Suk, who answered many questions in place of the members,
revealed, "These members are having their first press conference today.
That′s why I am here. I have the heart of a father who came to their
child′s first day of elementary."
BLACKPINK is a 4 member group that consists of Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and
Rosé. Their average age is 19 and the members have been training with YG
anywhere between 4-6 years. The group will begin official promotions
after releasing their first single album Square One on August 8.
Meanwhile, during the showcase, the music videos for Boombayah and Whistle were revealed for the first time.
