The former 'Pop Idol' winner went to number one with his album '85%
Proof' last year but after parting ways with Island Records, he has
decided to self-publish his latest record.
A source told The Sun: "Will has been dropped by Island and is going to
do his own thing for a while. It is a surprising decision to let him go
given the album he released with them went straight to No1.
"He had a great relationship with everyone at the label but sometimes
these things just don't work out and people have to move on. He's
self-released his new 'Summer Covers' EP. He has wanted to release his
EP for ages and finally has the creative freedom to do it.
A representative for Will added: "Will's deal with Island Records came
to a natural end following the release of his sixth studio album, and
fourth number one '85% Proof' last year. Both parties mutually decided
to part ways."
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Will is to compete in this year's 'Strictly Come Dancing.'
The 37-year-old singer impressed BBC producers so much with his footwork
when he appeared on the show to perform his single 'Joy' last year that
he's been asked to join the next series later this year as one of the
celebrity contestants.
A source said previously: "Will is a brilliant signing. He is extremely
popular, he is a true professional, he can be quite competitive and he
is no shrinking violet."
