Former TVB Actor Vinci Wong Marries Longtime BF, First Gay Marriage in HK Entertainment Industry

Former TVB Actor Vinci Wong (王賢誌) and his longtime boyfriend, Kevin Chow, have finally registered for marriage in Vancouver, Canada. This is the first same-sex marriage in the Hong Kong entertainment industry.

45-year-old Vinci, who grew up in Canada, debuted as a TVB artist in 1994. In his 10-year career with TVB, Vinci appeared in numerous television dramas and hosted many variety programs, such as the Tung Wah Charity Show. Vinci became the vice chairman of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals after retiring from his entertainment career, and has since established his own healthcare product business. TVB artist Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) is Vinci’s second cousin.

On August 1, 2016, Vinci shared on social media that he and his longtime boyfriend, Kevin Chow, have officially registered for marriage in Vancouver. Vinci shared a photo of a floral design that read “Vinci Kevin”, indicating that they have finally tied the knot after over seven years of dating.

“August 1, 2016 is a day worth to remember!” wrote Vinci.

Their wedding in Vancouver was simple and intimate. Though it wasn’t a big event, quite a few friends from the entertainment industry went to Vancouver to support them, including singer Enrico Kwong (鄺祖德). Vinci and Kevin’s parents witnessed their marriage, and after the ceremony, the two families and their friends came together for a dinner banquet.

Vinci came out as gay in 2013, when he went on the radio show Together as One <自己人> as a guest star.

According to news reports, Kevin is a restaurant investor. He originally came from Macau, but immigrated to Los Angeles.

“Thank you everyone for all the concerns and blessings,” said Vinci when he was contacted by Hong Kong reporters. “We’ve just finished dinner and I am a little intoxicated, so I am unable to respond to too many questions, but thank you.”
