Taylor Swift has donated $50,000 to a food bank in Louisiana.
The hefty sum - which she paid to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank - is
just a part of the $1 million she pledged to the relief efforts of the
Louisiana flood disaster, which has left many residents displaced and at
least 13 dead.
Sharing a picture of the team holding a 'thank you Taylor' sign on their
official Instagram, the food bank wrote: "Today @taylorswift donated
$50,000 to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank! The #laflood destroyed our
warehouse but we are going to shake it off! (sic)."
The 26-year-old singer previously pledged $1 million to Louisiana Flood
Relief, admitting the whole disaster has left her feeling "heartbroken".
Speaking about how the widespread devastation has affected the city and
its surroundings in a statement, she said: "We began The 1989 World Tour
in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at
home. The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of
their own homes this week is heartbreaking.
"I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time."
The 'Shake It Off' hitmaker is a regular supporter of charitable causes
and she recently offered a "very generous donation" to the African Parks
organisation.
A post by the company read at the time: "Thank you @TaylorSwift13 for
your very generous donation to @AfricanParks on #WorldElephantDay
(sic)."
