John Stamos doing better than ever

John Stamos feels better than he has in 10 years.

The 52-year-old actor underwent a stint in rehab in July, a month after he was arrested for driving under the influence and taken to hospital for an undisclosed condition, and says being taken in by police was a "turning point" following a "rough year".

He told Details magazine: "I've had a rough year with my mom dying, so it all came to a head, and it was a turning point.

"You either continue on that path - and some of it's fun, but a lot of it's not - or there's this other thing, this golden opportunity sitting there with all this work and all this goodwill that you have going for you. That's the key. I feel better than I've felt in a decade."

The 'Fuller House' star - whose beloved mother Loretta Phillips Stamos died last September - was arrested on June 12 after police officers were alerted to the fact he'd been drinking when he started driving erratically along Santa Monica Boulevard.

He was handcuffed before being taken to hospital "due to a possible medical condition".

Following the incident, he took to his Twitter account to thank his fans for their support.

He wrote: "Thanks to everyone for their love & support. I'm home & well. (sic)"

The 'ER' star also showed his appreciation to the hospital staff who looked after him, adding: "Very appreciative of the BHPD & Cedars for their care. (sic)"
