VIP tickets to Faye Wong’s Shanghai gig snapped up before public sales

Chinese singer-actress Faye Wong has confirmed through her management company that she will be holding a one-night-only concert in Shanghai, China at the end of the year. VIP tickets for the concert are said to be priced at RMB$13 888 (approximately S$2,814) each.

The last concert Faye held was four years ago, on a much larger scale. However, despite holding 46 concerts, it was still hard to obtain concert tickets, due to popular demand. Thus, once news of Faye’s concert this year got out, fans immediately began planning to lay hands on the coveted tickets.

Earlier, it was rumoured that Jack Ma, the CEO of Chinese e-commerce site, Alibaba, had forked out RMB$160 million (approximately S$32 million) in order to obtain the rights to organise Faye’s concert. However, newest reports state that Ma Huateng, the founder of Chinese internet company Tencent, had obtained the rights instead.
Reports also state that the VIP tickets for the gig will cost RMB$13 888 (approximately S$2 814) each, and that the concert will be held on December 30 in Shanghai.

However, the VIP tickets are said to have been sold out even before ticket sales started, leaving fans with no choice but to go for the cheaper categories instead. The rest of the tickets range from RMB$5 999 to $6 999 (approximately S$1,211 to S1,413) each.

When reached for comment, Faye’s manager would only say that everything will be revealed during her press conference tonight.
