Jay Chou performs on a special 4D stage for his Shanghai concert

Mandopop singer Jay Chou kicked off the first of his four concerts in Shanghai, China, as part of his ‘The Invincible’ concert world tour last night, with an exclusive space-themed stage set.

The set, a 4-dimensional, space-themed stage, reportedly cost NT$160 million (approximately S$7.9 million) to produce. 44,000 fans are expected to attend his four concerts in Shanghai and proceeds from the ticket sales are reported to be as high as NT$292 million (approximately S$12.2 million).
Jay made his appearance in a futuristic LED “armoured” outfit yesterday and kicked off the concert with ‘Hero’ and ‘Incomparable’. Coupled with the impeccable stage set and visual effects, the multi-hyphenate managed to bring his audience into the depths of “space” and the “ocean” as well, making the concert a feast for the senses.

The concert was also supported by 20 back-up dancers and 13 musicians, and Jay had a total of nine different outfit changes during the concert. According to reports, seven outfits wore yesterday are designed by Tomas, the costume designer who handles the wardrobes of Taiwanese pop queens Jody Chiang and A-Mei, while the remaining two outfits are designed by luxury fashion label MOSCHINO.

Jay’s wife, Taiwanese actress-model Hannah Quinlivan was also spotted at the concert showing her support for him, though she did not bring along their 11-month-old daughter, Hathaway.
