Korean drama Descendants of the Sun was overwhelmingly well-received in China, with its lead actors, Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo experiencing a rise in their popularity there.
Joong-ki, in particular, has been receiving a number of love calls from advertisement agencies in China. The actor recently signed a two-year contract with Chinese cosmetics brand Proya for an estimated KRW$4 billion (approximately S$4.7 million).
Stars are also going crazy over the TV series and its actors, including Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi who took to her Weibo to post a picture of her daughter, nicknamed ‘Xing Xing’ together with the actor.
It turns out that Joong-ki will be starring alongside Ziyi for his Proya advertisements. The duo had filmed for the campaign together recently, and Ziyi had brought along her 7-month-old daughter to the filming site.
Ziyi addressed the actor’s fans in her caption, writing, “Your husband [Song Joong-ki] is very warm and loving! Darling Xing Xing, are you just pretending to be calm [in the presence of Song Joong-ki]?”
Once the picture was posted, netizens immediately started leaving
comments, expressing their jealousy. Some also commented that this was
not Xing Xing’s first picture with a Korean star – Ziyi had taken a picture with Korean boyband BIGBANG last year, while she was pregnant with Xing Xing.

Xing is Ziyi’s daughter with her husband, Chinese rocker Wang Feng.
Ziyi and Wang Feng tied the knot after the Chinese rocker proposed at her birthday last year. The couple welcomed their first child, Xing Xing, in December the same year.
