Hong Kong actress and singer Gigi Leung, 39, hosted a first-birthday party for her daughter, Sofia, on February 28.
“Watching you grow up day by day makes us marvel at the miracle of life!” Gigi wrote on Facebook. “Thank you for bringing boundless joy to the family.”
The simple pink-themed party was reportedly the idea of Gigi’s husband, Sergio.
Taiwanese singer and actress Valen Hsu, 41, flew over from Taiwan to be with Sofia. She represented the toddler’s other godmothers, actresses Angelica Lee and Charlie Young, to present Sofia with gifts of clothes and a large red packet.
During the party, Gigi organised a zhuazhou session for Sofia, during which the child picked out paints and a bicycle. Gigi said she was happy that her daughter would enjoy painting and exercise as she did, but she wouldn’t interfere with Sofia’s career choices in future.
Zhuazhou, held on a baby’s first birthday, is a Chinese custom that is said to give an indication of what profession it will enter when it grows up, with various items representing different industries laid out for it to pick from.
Gigi married Spaniard Sergio Crespo Gutes in 2011.
